"Okay mummy. I love you. " she said turning back around to watch the movie once again with a smile.

"I love you too baby. I love you too...."

One day later.... cuz I'm lazy...

"Lilly! Shelly's downstairs for you!"

Just give me a few moments to put on some clothes!

"Lilly! She's getting pretty impatient!"

Geez!

I unlocked the bedroom door and shouted 'open'.

"Lilly! Why are you le-. Oh. Hello." I looked back to see her eyeing Alana and smiling awkwardly.

"This is Alana. I didn't bother calling you because I knew that you would come anyway. "

She opened her mouth and held up a finger.

"Yes. I am going away and yes she's coming with me, which is why I need you to take her shopping for clothes and shoes. Please." she looked at me, then at her.

She wave me to come closer.

"Are you sure about, this?" she asked, motioning to Alana.

"Yeah, but be careful. This was Ms. Mint's daughter. You know the one that passed a few years back?"

She nodded.

"Her uncle sold her off, but she escaped and was wondering through the streets before knocking on our door. How could I not take her in?"

She sighed.

"I'll pay for everything. Just get your flight stuff organized and be ready. His business is going through some tuff times. We don't want a repeat of this." I nodded my head agreeing.

Not on my watch.

"Okay. Thanks Shelly." she says 'no problem' before heading towards Alana with a smile.

"Hi pumpkin! I'll be taking you shopping today, but we'll have to be careful that no one see's you. Okay?" Alana nods her head.

"Yes ma'am."

I gave Alana one of the four small pairs of shoes that I kept for years.

Who says laziness doesn't pay off when cleaning out your shoes?

I went downstairs to find... a police officer.

My breath hitched and I placed a hand behind my back, gesturing for them to stay up.

She got the message and quietly carried her back into the room. I went down the remainder of the steps and walked up to the officer that's now speaking with daddy.

"No officer, there is no six year old girl living here. Just my nineteen year old daughter." dad said, folding his arms seemingly annoyed.

"Good morning officer. What so I owe this visit to?" he snaps his head in my direction and his blue eyes seemed to sparkle in the light.

He smiled widely at me, took off his hat and moved his brownish blonde hair out of his face.

Uh, okay then.

"Do you need something?" I asked tilting my head to the side making him jolt up and do an ''ahem' before continuing.

"Yes. There's been a report on a little blue eyed girl at the age of six wandering these streets. Have you seen her by any chance?"
