Today was the day I was supposed to meet with Tyshawn. I didn't know how I felt about this whole situation knowing he was the main reason I was in this mess. I been in my thoughts all day on how I was gonna act like I was in love with him. The acting wasn't the hard part. It would be just the sight of him because the thought of him just made me feel disgusted so the fact that I had to engage conversation with this fool made me gag.
"Hey you alright?"
I looked over the table at Christina starring at me with concern eyes.
"I'm fine." I said eating the breakfast they served.
"You looked a little out of it."
I grinned.
"I guess this place does that for you."
She laughed.
"You right. Your able to go outside now we can go after you finish eating."
I nodded realizing I haven't seen the sun in a week. Layla the girl that doesn't speak sat in front of me. She didn't have a plate in front of her so I guess she wasn't eating. I looked up at her just to see her looking at me.
"Um yes?" I ask wondering if she wanted something.
She pointed her thumb for me to look back. I slowly looked over her shoulder to see Nookie looking at me, What the hell is with this chick and why does everyone like starring. Usually Ill be bold and ask her why the hell she starring at me but in this place I didn't want to be known like that.
"Do you know whats her deal?" I ask.
She didn't say anything else. She just got up and walked away. I swear everybody in this fucking jail was weird as hell. I got up to put my tray away and saw Nookie beside me doing the same thing.
"How was your day ky'ayla?" She asked.
I looked over to her not wanting to have an conversation with her because I was yet to figure her out.
"Fine." I said walking away but she followed me which made me a little irritated.
"Your not gonna ask how my day was?" She asked.
I turned around annoyed with her games.
"What are you doing?" I ask.
She laughed at me and I had no idea what was funny.
"I'm talking to yo-
"Cut that bullshit. What games you trynna play Nookie."
"I don't know what your talking about Ky'ayla I'm just trynna be your friend." She said sounding almost genuine.
I looked at her a little crazy.
"I don't need any friends but thank you." I said smiling and turning around.
I swear if she followed me I would be forced to swing on her but lucky for her she didn't. I walked over to Chris who was putting her tray away.
"Ready?" She ask.
I nodded and followed her outside. I instantly saw the different groups people were in. Black, Hispanic, white, scrawny girls big girls. They were all divided and separated. I looked over at Chris and wondered what group she belonged in.
"Hey who do you talk to around here?" I ask.
"Nobody but at the same time everybody. I try to stick to my own really, but also like to know theirs a selective people I can talk to."
