She slowly fluttered her eyes open, turning her head to see a snoring Spencer in the chair next to her bed. She smiled softly and tried to adjust herself in the bed. She hated that she was so weak she couldn't even move. She felt useless. She moved her heavy arm up and tried to press the button to get her nurse. There was a small knock on the door and Spencer stirred in the chair, but he didn't wake up. The door slowly opened and Mavis' nurse appeared. She looked over at Spencer and saw that he was asleep, so she decided to keep her voice down.

"Do you need more ice chips?" The nurse asked. Mavis nodded. The nurse then left her alone. Mavis looked over at Spencer and he had case files spread around him on a table and a half written document in his lap. He fell asleep writing his report. Mavis moved in her bed slightly so she could grab the remote for the tv. As she was struggling to get the remote, the nurse walked back in. "Here, let me help." She spoke as she grabbed the controller for Mavis. She turned on the tv and kept the volume low so only Mavis could really hear it. She handed the controller to Mavis so she could flick through the channels and find something she liked. She brought over the table for the patients and placed the cup down on it with a spoon. "I'll be back in a few hours to check on you." The nurse whispered. Mavis nodded a thank you and the nurse left.

Mavis sighed softly and flicked through the channels until she found her all time favorite show playing on the screen, The Office. She smiled and set the controller down by her hand so she could easily reach it. She grabbed the cup of ice and the spoon, placed them in her lap and pushed the table away since she didn't feel like being trapped behind it. She ate the ice and watched The Office until Spencer woke up.

She was flicking through the channels when he did finally wake up. She ended up on a station that was playing the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. She smiled slightly at the tv as she ate more ice. The nurse had come by multiple times to check on her and refilled the ice each time. Mavis' throat was a lot less scratchy now and she could actually get out full sentences without wanting to rip her throat out.

"Mavis?" Spencer called softly as he adjusted in his chair. He opened his eyes and his gaze moved along her body until he got to her face.

"Morning, sleepy head." She whispered softly since it still did hurt to speak loudly. He looked over at his watch and it was four in the morning. He rubbed at his eyes as he sat up in the chair.

"What are you watching?" He questioned when he heard the chainsaw revving up and a blood curdling scream coming from the speakers on the hospital bed. His eyes were sensitive to light so he was squinting at the tv in the room, even though all of the lights were dimmed to where they were almost off.

"The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre." She spoke quietly and yet happily. She loved old horror movies, they were her favorite and since it was about a month away from Halloween all the channels were streaming them day in and day out.

"That's a good one." Spencer spoke his eyes finally adjusting to the light. He pulled out his phone and dialed Penelope's number. She didn't pick up because she was asleep in her home. He left a voicemail saying that Mavis was up and when Penelope gets up she should come over right away.

"Spence?" Mavis whispered, turning her head to look at Spencer. He looked back at her with a tired yet confused look on his face. "Lay with me..." she spoke softly. He smiled and nodded. He helped her adjust in the bed so he was able to squeeze his skinny body in the bed. He ended up laying on his back, his arm wrapped around Mavis. Her head was on his chest and both of her arms were positioned so the stitches couldn't bother her. She was content enough to fall back asleep while watching her favorite movie. She missed his embrace. She longed for it.

He pushed some hair from the side of her face to behind her ear. He smiled down at her from how absolutely gorgeous she was, even if she was laying here in a hospital bed. "Tomorrow when Penelope gets here, I'll go back to the apartment and grab some things for you, okay?" He spoke softly to her. She nodded her head against his chest. The sweater vest he was wearing was acting as a good pillow for her head. She could hear his heartbeat and it was steady. He was content laying there in the hospital bed with her snuggling up next to him.

"Can you bring me that flannel of yours that I love so much?" She spoke softly, looking up at him. He breathily chuckled and nodded.

"Of course." He spoke softly to her. She smiled and moved her head back down so she could watch tv. He leaned his head down so he was able to gently press a kiss to her head. It wasn't long again until she fell asleep against him. He stayed up and watched the movie silently quoting the entire thing. He fell asleep soon after the movie ended and he turned off the tv.
