“So how’s it coming along D’Shane,” She purred making the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

“Fine,” I bit out ... “I’ve already got through to the girl and the boy will be easy enough seeing as they’re related”

“Look me in the eyes D’Shane,” She suddenly commanded, her voice turning malicious

“Why? Don’t you trust my answer?” I replied

“You know I don’t trust anyone dear, now look into my eyes!”

I sighed but still obliged so that she could check my eyes for any trace of emotion. Although I’d seen mistress do this procedure hundreds of time she’d never actually bothered to do it on me. I guess I always just assumed we had at least some level of trust between us... I guess I was wrong.

“Are you sure you have no emotional attachment to them?” Mistress asked for the umpteenth time

“I’ve already told you I don’t, It’s only been a few days why would I be emotionally attached to them?” I muttered

“You don’t know what they’re capable of boy, especially the girl... she’s a right little b!tch!”

“Remind me exactly what they did to you again?”

“That’s not for you to worry about... all you need to do is bring her to me without any problems... can you do that?”

“You know I can... I don’t even know why we need to go through this again.” I replied bluntly.

“Bye D’Shane,” mistress replied opening the door

I walked out without replying.

“I’ll come see you soon for an update!” Mistress called out to my back.

At that I started running as I had already reached the tree line to the woods, relishing in the feeling of my bones breaking as I shifted into wolf form.

I hated coming to see mistress at the house. I don’t know what it is about that place but it seriously creeps me out. It feels like there are eyes watching me ... everywhere! You know in the movies when you’re in a haunted house and the eyes from the picture on the wall follow you around???

Well imagine that like 100 times worse... except there are no pictures on the walls.

It’s as if the walls are watching you. It’s just freaky!

I stopped just as I reached the clearing in the centre of the woods. Circling slowly, taking in the beauty of Mother Nature, sighing, wishing my life could be as beautiful and as simple as she was. But that’s impossible.

*FLASHBACK 1 year ago*

“Have fun at bowling club,” I called out to the almost closed door.

“I will,” She replied cheerfully , “ oh and before I forget I’ll either be back late or I’ll just stay at Sammie’s house because she’s just broken up with Joe and I promised I’d go over,”

“Oh alright then, but what about dinner tonight?” I asked

“Oh my I’m sorry I totally forgot, ermm can we do it tomorrow night?” she asked

“Yeah sure it’s okay,” I sighed, “I understand, Sammie needs you right now”

Carla ran back to hug and kiss me.

“And that is why I love you Shaun,” she smiled before leaving my house.

Foolishly I had believed her, at the age of 17 I had really thought I was “in love”. What a fool I was. It is true when they say love is blind because boy was I blind. I couldn’t even see what was happening right under my nose. If I hadn’t been so overcome by Carla’s beauty I would have noticed that every other week another one of her girlfriends had been “dumped” and she had to go over to help them.

I would’ve noticed that whenever she came home she immediately took a shower and threw her clothes in the washing machine.

I would have noticed the difference in her personality, the way she’d changed how she dressed.

I would’ve noticed she was cheating on me.

That’s when I made my mistake. I made my decision fuelled by anger, I ruined my life.

She sat there; held me, let me cry on her shoulder. Then she planted the seed of revenge into my head. So like the stupid innocent I was, I said yes.

I never did tell her exactly whether I had stuck to her plan or not. All she saw was me coming down the stairs, bloody knife in one hand, gasoline in the other, with an emotionless face.

I remember she looked at me questionably, as if she wanted to ask if I had stuck to her plan. But all I gave her was a brisk nod and together we left the house. At the end of the front path she lit the match and gave it to me. I threw it perfectly in to the open upstairs bedroom window and left Carla to burn.

*******

One year on and the police are still looking for Carla’s long term boyfriend Shaun to see if he can help with the murder inquiry.

But that Shaun is long gone, the police will never find him. He's D'Shane now.

I’d already said yes to her, to mistress. That one fatal word.  That changed my life forever.

A/N: Not as long as I would have liked but I felt I should upload as it’s been 2 weeks

To be honest it’s more of a filler chapter than anything but I needed to reveal a bit more background info about D’Shane and why he is the way he is if that makes sense?
