We hit the road almost immediately, and I certainly felt the same sense of exhilaration that I had done before when Otabek had first invited me to ride his motorbike. Without the fear, however, as I knew I could put my entire trust and confidence into him. We may not have seen each other for quite a while, yet I was more than aware that Otabek was my friend and I really had nothing to worry about with him...

We drove across the motorway until we lost sight of the city and its noise. I could vaguely recognise where we were - my grandfather had drove me up this road to finally leave me in the hands of the two lovebirds that insisted on getting on my nerves with each passing day. I shot a quizzical look to Otabek, even though he was more likely concentrating on the road than satisfying my curiosity. I leaned back, staring up at the perfect, cloudless sky. I had yet to take note of how warm and sunny the day was despite it being March. The first month of spring, huh? Sure felt like it.

Finally we came to a gradual halt by the side of the road and Otabek stood up, clamouring off the bike and glancing at me in one of those silent ways of his to do the same. I pulled my helmet off and handed it to him, "So what is this place?" I asked eventually, not bothering to hide my lack of knowledge. Otabek didn't appear to be too surprised however, as if he knew this already and wanted to take us to somewhere different. Somewhere for just the two of us... "Come with me, Yuri." He held out his gloved hand and I took it tentatively.

We left the road (and Otabek's motorbike) and through a thick forest of trees, the kind which I would almost immediately say looked like the sorts you'd find in horror movies when the protagonists are trapped and the monsters are lurking within. Yet I didn't believe in that bullshit for sure, and it wasn't like I was even scared by the concept, let alone the reality. It was just a passing thought that had no real meaning... right?

Finally, we tumbled out onto the other side of that forest and into broad daylight once more. However, we were practically on the edge of a cliff by now and I got sudden de ja vu about our first proper chat with one another in the lead up to the Grand Prix. Otabek sure did like taking me away to high up places of isolation for our little bonding sessions... My thoughts were interrupted by Otabek's soft, but firm, tone, "Yurio, take your eyes off me for a second and look--" I glanced over to to beyond the cliff and gasped; I never knew such a view existed. My entire city lay before me, bursting and buzzing with life... "Otabek." I murmured, "This is beautiful..."

"Happy Birthday Yuri Plisetsky..."
