Restraining the outbreak of a huge grin, I allowed myself to turn back to the older male who stood beside me. There was something in the way he spoke, the way he held himself with such authority... almost as though his plans and dreams were already within his reach. To have that confidence, I thought, must be truly wonderful. Even I, Russia's Ice Tiger as I was known, had only gained confidence through excessive training and force. I wondered just how Otabek had come to terms with himself in a way I had yet to do and become so... intricate?
My thoughts were tumbling all over the place and I almost didn't catch Otabek's question, "So, Yurio, how's Puma Tiger Scorpion?" I felt myself smile wider just by the fact that he had clearly remembered my cat's name, but then I remembered, "I... I don't know. I had to leave him behind at my grandpa's house and I don't get to speak to grandpa too often nowadays." I sighed, focusing my sight on the landscape before me, still bustling with life. I could sense Otabek looking straight at me, and I felt bad for killing the mood, "B-But I'm sure he's fine! That little bastard of a furball will survive without me, I'm sure. Besides, I have... Makkachin now."
"You don't like dogs?" Otabek reminded me; last time we had a discussion about pets, I practically screamed my head off defending cats over dogs. I could write a whole essay as to why felines are far superior to any breed of dog, hands down. Otabek had then shown me a picture of this little pug his older sister had owned, and I concluded that even this puppy, in all its glory, would never reach the same level as my Potya. I nodded, admitting to his assumptions that I really would rather have my cat than that stupid dog...
Otabek smiled warmly, taking me back. Whilst I was more than assured that us two were mates, I knew more than anyone that he rarely smiled. Even when he was genuinely happy, he was just a man of few visual emotions. To see him smile was certainly nice though, if not unusual. "Yurio, trust me when I say that I am more than sure your cat is missing you. If he's anything like me that is." I frowned - wait, did I just hear that? "What do you mean?" I asked cautiously.
"I mean, Yurio, that I have missed you very much. I couldn't wait for the next Grand Prix or any other time for that matter. I wanted to meet up with you again as soon as I could, and today is your birthday so I decided now would be more than a good time to return... You've missed me too, haven't you?" I blushed, "Uh... Well yeah... Of course - Otabek?" Before I really could gather my thoughts together, the older male rather suddenly leaned in close to my face, his lips gently pressed up onto mine. It took all my willpower to relax and let my eyelids flutter shut. Oh god, this was perfect...
