i walked into the room after finn, it had cream walls and there was a small table with two chairs, i closed the door after me. "so as i was saying, how are you?" i asked.
"i'm great thanks, kinda tired but apart from that excited for this role." he smiled before speaking again, "what about you, how are you doing?"
"im great, kinda nervous but im excited. its my first time in la actually." i pursed my lips and fiddled with the script after speaking.
"im constantly between la and vancouver, sometimes seattle too. just like the entire west coast really. how long was the flight from england to here?" he seemed genuinely interested which was nice."it was 12 hours but i managed to sleep for half of it and then i watched all four shrek movies." after saying that i realised it sounded a bit sad.
"so was the all four shrek movies a good choice?" he questioned, earning a laugh from me."in my defence, it was either all four shrek movies or all of the jaws movies so i chose shrek." it was a very limited selection because i forgot to pay for more movies on the plane.
he nodded and suggested reading through the scripts which lead to us falling silent for a few minutes. with finn being the first to break it."so this looks good, are you going to be ok crying that much?" he met my eyes and i laughed, it was a pretty emotional scene. my character was more or less sobbing throughout the whole thing.
"i can try, if we can do it practising then i'll be able to do it in the real deal, i don't want to look like im having an allergic reaction when we audition." i joked and he nodded in agreement. "we can just practise and see how it goes?" i smiled at him and nodded. then we began to speak our lines.
alissa: he told me i was worthless. he was right. i am, i mean look at me i can't even stay in a relationship. i am worthless
zach: you're not worthless, why would you ever think that? you are amazing, beautiful and if anyone is worthless its jackson. he had no right to say anything to you when he's the one who messed shit up himself. now come on let's get you inside.
(alissa and zach walk inside zach's house and she sits on the sofa shivering)
zach: here take my jacket (takes off jacket and puts it around alissa)
alissa: i don't really understand why you're helping me. i'm not worthy of your time. i'm not worthy of anyone's time.
zach: no alissa, do not let him get into your head. everything he ever said about you is wrong. he was an abusive, manipulative person. you don't need to worry about him anymore. (he wraps his arms around her and pulls her into a hug)
alissa: you don't understand, i cant just not worry about him anymore. he was my boyfriend and no matter how poorly he treated me i had feelings for him.
zach: this is the wrong time to say this and i've wanted to tell you this for a while, but i like you. (he looks down at his legs embarrassed)
(she looks up at him hopefully)
alissa: you do? seriously? this isn't some kind of sick joke right?
zach: no why would it be.
alissa: nobody told you what i said? this isnt another one of jacksons sick mind games?
zach: of course not what are you talking about?
alissa: (coarsely) i've been thinking about this for a long time, i think i like you too.we break character and i congratulate finn. i was hoping the scene wouldn't be awkward and it turned out great. they made it very clear our characters would develop feelings but i didn't think we'd audition with something to emotional to see the chemistry.
"wow you did so good." i said wiping the tears I made fall from my eyes."i did good? you got so into that, you were amazing." he said with his hands still on my shoulders from the hug.
"i feel like this is one of the hardest scenes i've ever had to audition with." i began to say, then ben poked his head through the door.
"you two will be going last so if you could try to keep it a bit quiet in here whilst the other two pairs are doing their audition it would be great thanks." we both nod and i open some blinds to reveal a balcony overlooking los angeles.
