Chapter 10
It was now a year later and it seemed crazy that much time had passed. To look back a year ago and think that she was going to be here in life was not something she expected in the least. Casey had been the one to make partner at the firm. That Monday after they had a teary goodbye with the guys was something she would never forget. She found out at the firm in the morning that Lauren had been recorded on the conversation she had with a friend of hers. Mr. Gotlieb had been handed the recording by an anonymous source which later she found out was Taren the quiet girl that was always efficient but never spoke more than two words to anyone. She had become suspicious of Lauren and started to do some detective work. Mr. Gotlieb exposed her and her father and told them both that if they wanted the company they would have to pry it from his dead hands because as long as it was up to him he owned that building. Lauren and her father walked out in shame of getting caught. Later on Casey heard that Lauren’s father invested all of his money in stock and it had taken a plummet when the stock he invested in went belly up after they were taken in by the Fed’s because of embezzlement schemes.
