I was a flame, burning out, losing my spark until I met you. Then suddenly you set me ablaze, brighter than before. Like air filling my lungs, you give me life. You are more than I deserve but greedily, I hold on to you. I find everything and more in you. I give you myself and I need nothing else. Your love fills up my lungs and now I believe I need you more than air.

He sat on the couch with his feet propped up on the table, papers spread across every inch of it. Rectangular glasses sat on the bridge of his nose and a pen stuck between his teeth as he read over the paper in his hand. Meanwhile the city slept away beyond the glass window of his apartment.Mason sighed and dropped the sheet beside him. He pinched the bridge of his nose and laid his head back, letting out a grunt. He reached for his phone and checked the time, 03:17am.
With another grunt, he stood and stretched his arms over his head. He took off the glasses and laid them on the table before heading to his room. He could make out the sleeping form of Robyn in the dark and smiled in contentment. She had become his indefinite roommate.
His feet then padded silently across the wooden expanse to his closet. He turned the light switch on and proceeded to change into his running clothes, sweatpants and a blue T-shirt. He then grabbed his Jordans and was soon out of the house. A chill breeze washed over him as soon as he stepped out the glass doors of the apartment buliding. Autumn was gradually approaching, he mindlessly thought as he looked up the starless sky then begun his morning jog, following the trail he always took around the apartment through the park a little ways ahead, past the mini library round the block then back.
It was eerily quiet, the street lamps providing little light. He liked it that way though as he could think clearly. The rhythmic sound of his heart thumping, his short ragged breaths and the slapping of his soles on the concrete floor all served to relax his clouded mind.
Soon he was back where he started at the entrance of the building yet he still felt energetic. He checked the time, 4:45. He had spent about 40 minutes running. He had wanted to go for another run but thought against it. He couldn't leave Robin alone for long. Heaving his shoulders, he retraced his steps to his apartment.
Once inside, he headed straight to the bedroom to check on her. The lights were on and she wasn't on the bed. He hardly time to panic before he heard humming in the bathroom. He couldn't help the smile that graced his face. How did he become so lucky? Without hesitation, he crossed the short distance to the wooden barrier that separated him from her. When he opened the door, he got a view he wasn't expecting but was very appreciative of all the same. Robin had bent to spit out lather and her butt was sticking out. She stood back up, catching his gaze in the mirror. She turned to him with a knowing smirk.
"Pervert!" she teased and turned back to finish brushing.
He shrugged innocently "Not when it was on display." He wrapped his arms around her waist, his face buried in the nook of her neck. "I missed you—a lot."
"You just left."
"An hour and a half is more than enough to miss you."
She frowned and turned, pulling out of his embrace, "I heard clanking noise like knives falling about half an hour ago. That was what woke me up. That wasn't you?"
He shook his head, a deep frown marring his face. "Stay here." he said then stormed out the bathroom.
Someone had been into his home. He went to the hall, searching nooks and corners for bugs and cameras. He was sure whoever it was surely planted something somewhere. He turned his search to other areas in the condo but found nothing.
