After the first lecture I managed to save myself from further embarrassing moments. I was such a cow, who had apparently gone all gooey. Lunch bell rang and I ducked out straight to the cafeteria where Zar and Lekha waited. Lekha as always sulking and looking her gorgeous self, while Zar hogging on chips or fries, typical. I dragged myself to the table where they were sitting which was coincidentally right between the populars Josh and Saloni included and the new brown eyed boy. I waved at the populars and did a hi-fi with Dan. Josh chose not to acknowledge me and that was okay and pretty common these days as if I give a fuck. I threw my bag on the table and went on to order for some noodles. I walked while counting money in my wallet and ‘BHAAM’ smacked into something rather somebody.
“Oww!” I yelped and rubbed my forehead.
“Shit, are you okay?” He asked
“Ofcourse I’m not okay you As...”I quickly closed my mouth like a duck when I looked at the person who'd smacked the daylights out of my head and said, “Hey.”
Yes hey, how lame could I be? Kill me already. And then he did it, that to melt for smile of his, I was actually swooned. So yes, he smiled and said,
“Hey, Ms. Venkiteshwaram.”
“God, stop calling me that, the name is Kalsi, pretty simple Haan.” I babbled.
“But I like Venky, is that okay?” He asked still smiling.
How could say a No when he looked the way he did and smiled the way he smiled.
“Yes I mind, actually its fine you can call me that people call me with all sorts of names.” I said.
And as if that was the cue Lekha shouted out” Kals lunch doesn't last forever you know” and the populars howled “yes Kalsi..Very Bad Venkiteshwaram...Blah blah.”
I looked at them and gave a dirty look.
Then I turned back to brown eyes and just shrugged. He laughed.
And that is how Vidyut and I became friends. How he sat with us at our table during lunch and how I invited him over to Gams for dinner

Josh hated Vidyut for some reasons maybe because the brainless jocks accepted him too quickly and in no time girls were drooling over him but instead of flinging with them chose to hangout with me. He even helped me organize stupid debates and competitions. He was a great guy to be with. Maybe his niceness made Josh dislike him but who cares. And just like that I invited him over for dinner after three weeks of being friends.
He was coming over at 7 and thus I began cooking at Gams with great enthusiasm, humming and swirling around in the kitchen. I decided to make vegetable biryani from the recipe book as Gam was in her room feeling peaky. I was chopping vegetables in the kitchen as the rice baked in the oven. Josh walked in and gulped down the orange flavored tang I'd made for myself. He was walking away thank god but he halted and walked back into the kitchen. He sat on the kitchen counter while I chopped ferociously not looking at him.
“You're cooking? Why?” He asked as if he hadn't just ignored me for weeks casually.
I continued chopping speedily pouring my anger on the poor veggies.
“Venky, slow down before you chop your fingers off.” he remarked.
I glared at him with a knife in my hand and spoke, “will you please go away I’m cooking and do not want unnecessary distraction.”
“Exactly my question, why are you cooking? Where's Savitri?” He asked shamelessly.
“I wanted to cook for a friend who's coming over so I gave her an off.” I hissed
