I don't normally number my chapters, just name them, but we're going to try, and see how I like that. IDK if I'll keep it up, but for now, we're trying. Here's chapter 2!

{Patrick's' POV}-Two years later.

A little more than 2 years passed since that day. I spent those years hiding out and sleeping in the cabin in the woods during the day, and hunting at night. There was a lot of deer in the woods, so I was pretty set.

It had been a long and lonely couple of years, but it was probably better that way. People, at least in my experience with movies, don't take too kindly to vampires. There was one really bad time. One night, a pair of runners stopped and took shelter in the cabin. One of them, the boy, had a scratched up leg. I heard them coming and hid in the closet upstairs, but I could smell the blood running from his leg, pumping through both of their veins. I fought desperately to contain myself, but I could feel my patience and control slipping away. Using the newfound speed I had finally gotten the hang of using, I raced downstairs and sank my teeth into the guy's neck, quickly draining him dry. The girl screamed in horror, and I quickly bolted over to her, draining her faster than her partner. When I finished, I sat back in horror, staring at the pale, still corpses. My gaze wouldn't leave the holes in the boy's neck- I couldn't see the girl's. Those were fang marks.

     My fang marks.

I was horrified, and disgusted. I wanted to vomit, tasting the warm blood in my mouth, but my body wouldn't let me expel it.

I had meant to move them somewhere else, but, the sun rose, so I fell asleep. That night, I buried them in the clearing I woke up in, since it was the most familiar to me. Once that was done, I returned to the house, and sat on the old couch in the living room.

I sat there for hours, staring at the wall across from me. All of the curtains were drawn shut, despite the darkened sky outside. And that's why there was no problem when I fell asleep on that couch. I fell asleep early in the morning, around 3 AM, and slept until around 7 PM. I woke up with a yawn, a groan passing my lips as I sat up, stretched my legs and looked around. For a minute, I was confused as to why I was on the couch, and then I remembered the events of the previous night.

I shuddered at the memories, and decided to just relax on the couch, since I didn't really need to hunt thanks to the...I shuddered, unable to say the words...

So, here I was, at half past midnight, staring at the wall. It was quiet, the only sound being crickets outside, the occasional animal running around. Then, I heard something different. I heard voices.

I sat up straight on the couch, listening closely, and realized that the voices were coming closer to the cabin. Moving as quietly as possible, I rushed to the stairs and up to the bedroom I slept in, running to the closet. I heard somebody jiggling the door knob on the front door.

After a second of silence, I cried out at the sudden sound of the door being broken down, instantly covering my mouth.

"The blood trail led here. Someone...or something...has to be in here. I just want to see what it is." one of them said.

"But, sir, what if it's a wild animal?" a second, more nervous voice asked the first.

"Well, then, I'm certain we are fully equipped to handle it, Ross. The voices went silent. I could hear them searching the lower level of the cabin.

Oh, I'm certain they are not equipped to handle something like us, a different, closer voice chuckled quietly. It sounded like it was right beside me.

"W-What? Who's there?" I whispered, scared, as I looked around the closet. I knew it was empty, but that just fire up my nerves more.

Oh, you have no reason to fear me, my boy. My name is Vaughn. Just think of me as the Hyde to your Jekyll, except I am not here to harm you. I'm here to help us, the voice said.

"Where are you? In my head?" I asked.

Yes. Do not worry. I am not going to bring you harm. I fear they will if they find you, though. We can get out through the window, but you must hurry. Listen closely. There are two of their team stationed outside the front and back doors. Two more are inside searching. They are coming up the stairs now. You hear them, don't you?  I nodded. Good. They will find you soon. Go to the window, and jump. Your abilities will allow you to jump that height without any injury. As soon as you get on the ground, run. Run as fast as possible, and do not stop until I tell you to. Understand?he asked. I nodded, then stood, silently opening the closet door and moving towards the window. I froze as I could hear the voices nearing the door. I went to open the window, panic rising as it creaked.

I heard rushed footsteps racing towards the door. I moved the window open more and more until it was wide enough for me to fit through. Just as I got one leg out, the door burst open.

"Back door, we've got a runner coming out the second story window. Be on the lookout, and make sure you grab him!" One of them shouted into a radio. The second one raced towards the window in an attempt to grab me, but I managed to slide through the window and onto the roof.

I jumped off of the roof and hit the ground on my feet. "Over there!" someone yelled. I winced, blocking my eyes as I turned and was instantly blinded by flashlights.

Run, Patrick. Run!, Vaughn ordered harshly. I turned and ran into the woods. I could feel people running after me.

"Do you know how many there are?" I asked.

Four. The two from the front of the house joined the back group. The two from inside the house are not far behind, Vaughn warned. I nodded and kept running, not knowing or caring where I was going. I just had to get away!

I shouted as a bullet whizzed past my head. "Who even are these guys?!" I shouted.

I don't know, but they are clearly dangerous. We need to keep moving, he said.

I picked up the pace a little, but the bullets kept coming. These guys are good, I will give them that. I turned to look back, still running, to see where they were.

Patrick, look out!, Vaughn shouted suddenly. I turned just as I tripped over a fallen tree and hit the ground.

I was dazed for a moment, catching my bearings as I slowly climbed to my feet. Are you okay?, Vaughn asked.

I gave myself a quick once over, watching as the scratch on my hand instantly closed itself. "Yeah...I'm okay." I answered.

      Too good to be true.

A sudden, blinding pain in my chest, near my shoulder. A scream of pain erupted from my throat as I fell to my knees.

Patrick, get back up! You can't let them take you! Run!, Vaughn shouted, but I couldn't. I'd never been shot before, and it hurt like hell. An animalistic scream ripped out from my throat as another bullet pierced my opposite side, and I finally collapsed to my knees, hitting the ground.

"He's down! Move in, grab him, and get him in the van!" someone shouted.

Suddenly, I felt hands grab onto my arms. One of them hit the wound in my shoulder, causing me to scream and try to pull away. I was pushed towards a white van with words on it, but I couldn't focus on the words. My vision was swimming.

Patrick...I fear...we are growing weaker. We need...blood., Vaughn said tiredly. I shook my head as the back doors to the van opened and I was pushed inside. Four of the six that were chasing me climbed into the back with me. Anything else instantly became a blur, as I soon passed out.

Hi! Well, that was a lot of action, huh? If you liked the chapter, please remember to vote and comment! I've got a lot planned for this story, so keep reading to find out what happens next. Thanks for reading! Later!
