{Patrick's POV}

I woke up, instantly feeling the dull pain in my side and shoulder as I slowly rose to a sitting position. I was lying on a bed in the corner of a small, stone room. One wall was made of glass, which I couldn't see through.

I pulled down my shirt, examining the place where I was shot, and was shocked to only find a small scar. When I looked down at my side, I found a similar scar there. Then, I remembered what had happened leading up to those injuries.

"Vaughn, are you still there?" I asked quietly. I prayed he couldn't hear the terror in my voice, but strangely, I prayed he answered. It was better than being alone in here.

Yes, I am here, Patrick. How are you feeling?  Vaughn asked.

I sighed in relief. "I'm OK. Where are we?" I wondered.

You were unconscious when they brought you here. I'm just as clueless as you. I have a feeling we will soon find out, though. Someone is coming.

I looked up just the door to the room slid open and a young man stepped in, holding a tray in his hand. "Hello. Here's some food." the man said, placing the tray on the edge of the bed. He stepped to the door, lingering and filling the room with an award tension. I looked at the tray, which held a bowl of macaroni and cheese and a glass of milk.

I simply stared at the food. I'd tried human food once before-an apple I'd stolen from a group of friends having a picnic in the woods near a waterfall a few miles from the cabin. I threw up as soon as I swallowed one bite, and I haven't consumed human food since then. I didn't like the weak, disgusting feeling it gave me, and I didn't like throwing up.

I looked up at the man, who watched me with interest and curiosity. "Um...I don't...I can't eat this. It makes me sick." I said quietly. The man silently walked over, taking the tray. I was instantly attracted to the sound of his heart pounding in my ear drums, the sweet smell of the blood rushing through his veins.

Do it. You know you want to. Just take a bite. Vaughn said. I wanted to resist, but something inside me just couldn't let him go. I got off the bed and charged him, knocking him to the ground. I noticed his name tag on his white lab coat- Dr. Ross. I grinned, flashing my fangs to him. He started screaming for help and fighting me, trying to push me off of him. I lowered my head. grazing his neck with my fangs.

Suddenly, I felt electricity jolt my side. I shrieked in pain, rolling off of Dr. Ross and curling in on myself on the floor. "Ryan, are you okay?!" one of the six or seven people in the room asked. I noticed another man, helping Dr. Ross to his feet. His name tag read...Dr. Urie. He had some wand-looking device in his hand.

"I'm fine, Brendon." Ross assured him.

Dr. Urie turned to me, his expression angry. "You better watch yourself around here, or else I won't hesitate to use this again." he said, pressing a button on the device. Sparks crackled along the wand part, and I backed away, holding my hands up in front of my face.

Dr. Urie let go of the button as Dr. Ross's hand touched his shoulder. "Brendon, relax. He's just a kid. And it was sort of our fault, too. I told you he probably wouldn't want human food, but you wanted to see what would happen." he said, turning a giving me a kind smile.

Brendon sighed and nodded, frowning at Dr. Ross, then me. Ross leaned over to one of the men behind them and whispered something to him. The man nodded and rushed out of the room. He came back a few minutes later with a plastic bag filled with something I couldn't see. He handed the bag to Ross, who started walking closer to me.

Dr. Urie grabbed his shoulder, stopping him and pulling him back. "No, Ryan! It's too dangerous." he said quietly, as if I couldn't hear him. I didn't really care at the moment, though. I was still tired from the electricity and hunger.

"Brendon, come on. It'll be fine. He's just hungry. And it won't give him his full strength back-it's animal. I'll be fine, relax." Ross sighed, clearly growing frustrated with Urie. After a moment of thought, Brendon let go of his shoulder.

Ryan, giving him a thankful smile, slowly approached me. I clambered back against the wall, covering my face with my hands again. "Hey, relax. I'm not going to hurt you." he said. His voice was calm and trusting.

I sense he is not lying, and besides, he has blood. He can be trusted, Patrick. I heard Vaughn say. I nodded and slowly lowered my hands.

"That's it. Here. Want some?" he asked, his smile unwavering. I nodded and watched as he reached into the bag, pulling out a small bag full of blood. He tossed it to me, and I caught it, immediately tearing into it and drinking until the bag was dry. I looked up at him, and he seemed to be waiting for something. "C-Can I...have some more?" I asked. He smiled, nodded, and tossed me another, which I drained in seconds.

After about six of the ten bags, I was full. The other men in the room had cleared out earlier. Now, all that was left was me, Dr. Ross, and Dr. Urie. "Alright. I'll see you later, 208." Dr. Ross said as he left the room. I wondered what he meant. That wasn't my name.

Dr. Urie lingered in the room, towering a half a foot above me and glaring at me. "I'm watching you, 208. You better watch yourself." he said.

"Brendon! Come on!" Ryan yelled from the hallway. Brendon gave me an evil smirk before he walked out of the room, the door shutting and locking behind him.

Feel any better now, Patrick?  Vaughn asked.

"Yeah, a little. Hey, Vaughn, can I ask you a question?" I wondered.

      Of course, Patrick. he replied.

"Who are you, and where did you come from?" I asked.

I am simply a part of you, the more vampiric part of you, I suppose. I was awoken when you attacked the couple in the cabin, the first time you consumed human blood. he explained.

"Oh. Well, I'm glad you're here. It's kind of weird, having a...voice in my head, but...it's nice to have someone to talk to, I guess." I said, awkwardly.

I agree, Patrick. I have a feeling we will be here for a while, However.

He seemed to hesitate, thinking carefully about something. I do not remember much about myself, but I remember feeling alone for many years. It is very nice to have you, Patrick. he said.

I laid down on the bed, curling up under the thin blanket I was given. "Please don't leave me by myself, Vaughn." I said, yawning.

Though he was nothing more than a voice in my mind, I could feel him smiling, as if he were right beside me. I'm right here with you, Patrick. I won't leave you alone here.
