{Pete's POV}
"How could he have gotten away?!" Vaughn shouted, seething with rage as he complained about Patrick's escape.
"Well, I mean, you didn't have him restrained very efficiently. He did it pretty easily." I said, giving him a little smirk. Yes, I probably should have kept my mouth shut, given the situation I was currently in, but honestly, I didn't care. This guy was annoying.
He turned to me, glaring daggers into my eyes. "Did I ask you a question, human?" he asked.
"Well, I mean, sort of. You kind of shouted a question out loud. It seemed open to be answered." I remarked, shrugging as best I could with the restraints around my wrists. Snarling, Vaughn surged forward, appearing in front of me in seconds. Roughly, he gripped my chin, and forced my head towards his.
"Now, you listen, here, and you listen good. I don't want to hear another word out of your stupid, pathetic mouth, or else I will bleed you dry, understand?!" he shouted, flashing his teeth, his eyes burning yellow. Staring at him in mock-defiance, I nodded. Honestly, I'd never been more terrified in my life. This was a decade-old vampire. He could kill me in seconds.
Vaughn's eyes returned to their normal blood-red color, and his fangs retracted as he turned his head towards the basement door, a malicious grin on his lips. "Ahh, my little friend has returned, and he has brought me a snack. How kind of him!" he said. I was going to reply, but decided it best to keep my mouth shut. Vaughn clearly noticed, though.
"Ah, nothing smart to say now, huh, Peter?" he asked. Once again, I kept my mouth shut. "Good. Keep it that way!" he ordered.
{Author's POV}
Patrick and Ryan pulled up outside of Pete's house, and noticed Brendon standing there, leaned against the side of his car, waiting for them. "Hey, babe." Ryan said, pressing a small kiss to Brendon's cheek.
"Hey. So, what exactly are we getting ourselves into here? Do we even have a chance of stopping Vaughn? We didn't even know what he was when he was in Patrick's head. Now, he's an actual person?" Brendon wondered.
"I'm sure we can kill him just like any other kind of vampire. Obviously, sunlight is not an option, so stake him through the heart." Ryan explained.
"Where do we get stakes from?" Patrick wondered.
"Oh, I came a bit prepared. We, uh...have a whole stock of these at the lab." Brendon said as he went around to the trunk of his car and opened it, revealing about a dozen wooden stakes.
Patrick stared at them, fear evident in his eyes. "Patrick?" Ryan asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. "If you want, you can stay out here." Ryan offered. Patrick shook his head, clearing his thoughts.
"No. No, I'm fine. Let's go." he said, taking a few stakes and walking around to the front of the car.
"Alright. Let's do this." Brendon said, giving Patrick and Ryan a small smile. Quietly, Ryan and Brendon followed Patrick around back to the door he'd ran out of. When Patrick got around to the back door, he was surprised to find it open, the shelf that he'd previously left there aggressively forced aside.
"What's wrong?" Ryan asked, examining the shelf and open door.
"When I left, I closed this and pushed the shelf in front of it. He must know we're here." Patrick explained.
"He is a vampire. He probably knew we were coming from the time we pulled up out front. Let's just go, since our element of surprise is gone." Brendon said.
Yes, Patrick. Come and join us. You better hurry, though. I don't think Pete will last too much longer. Patrick heard in his head.
"Pete..." Patrick gasped.
"What? What's about Pete?" Brendon asked.
"Pete's in trouble. We have to hurry! Come on!" Patrick cried, rushing forward into the basement. Ryan and Brendon raced after him, and eventually they all froze, as they entered the room Patrick was held in before.
"Don't move another inch, or I swear, I'll kill him!" Vaughn shouted, inching the knife closer towards Pete's throat.
"Let him go, Vaughn! This is between you and me. He has nothing to do with this." Patrick argued.
"Oh, on the contrary, Patrick. He has everything to do with this. You love him, don't you? You admitted it earlier, before you ran out. You told him you loved him. So, what would happen if I just..." Vaughn stopped, pressing the knife in just a half an inch more. Pete hissed as the knife nicked his skin, a small drop of blood welling at the tip of the blade. Patrick tried to rush forward, but seeing the blood triggered something in him. He couldn't take his eyes off of that small drop.
Vaughn seemed to notice, for it was his laughter that momentarily broke Patrick out of his trance. "Oh, do you like that, Patrick? What if I just cut him up a little more, and set you loose on him? You could do my job for me! Come on, Patrick, you know you want some!" he said mockingly, cutting a little bit more, a few more drops of blood sliding gently down Pete's neck. Patrick's eyes remained fixated on those few small drops.
"Patrick...relax. Listen to me. Just, relax." Ryan whispered.
"I...I c-can't..." Patrick stuttered, a grimace taking over his fangs.
"Yes, Patrick. Give in to the hunger. Be the monster you were made to be! Take a bite, drain him!" Vaughn ordered, his eyes turning red as he glared into Patrick's eyes. Patrick slowly took a step towards them. Pete's eyes widened as his friend walked towards him, a predatory glare in his eyes.
"P-Patrick, please. Please, stop! Don't do this!" Pete begged.
"Quiet! Come on, Patrick. Take a bite!" Vaughn laughed.
"Patrick, listen to me! You're not a monster. This is Pete we're talking about here! Do you really want to hurt Pete?!" Ryan asked. Suddenly, Patrick stopped walking, looking up at Pete with a confused expression.
"P-Pete? Ugh..." Patrick groaned, clutching his mouth. He opened it wide as his fangs extended, his eyes flashing yellow for a moment before returning to their normal blue shade. His fangs slid back. "N-No!" he cried, falling to his knees on the floor.
"Patrick!" Pete cried. Patrick's breathing had grown a bit heavier, and his body was trembling a little.
"Oh, come on! Listen to me, Patrick! I'm the only one you need to listen to here. I'm in charge here, you got that?! Now, drain him, before I drain him, and your other little friends!" Vaughn shouted angrily, gripping the knife tighter and digging it further into Pete's throat, drawing more blood.
"Patrick, don't listen to him! Come on, you have to fight through this!" Brendon shouted. A low growl erupted from Patrick's throat, and he looked up at Pete and Vaughn. His eyes burned yellow, and his fangs poked out from beneath his lip.
With a smirk across his lips, he attacked.
...Aaaand there's the new chapter! Don't worry, though. It's just a filler. More will come next chapter. I promise, it'll be good.I was planning on writing a bigger chapter this time, but then we reached a milestone. This story has reached 2K reads! I am so proud, because I'm pretty sure this reached 2K faster than my BVB stories did, which is absolutely amazing, because I knew a lot of people loved those stories, but I didn't think you guys loved this one so much. I am so happy that we've gotten this far. Thank you guys so much for helping me reach this milestone!
Anyway, as always, if you did like this chapter, a vote/comment would be greatly appreciated. The next chapter will be posted soon. Thank you all so much for reading! Later! :) <3
