10:45
They were making their way back to her apartment. They still haven't said a word to each other since they left the party. The woman beside her looked tense.
Her? Well...
She is upset. She is hurt. She is breaking inside.
She had finally gathered enough courage to tell her the truth. She had decided to be brave. For Rhian.
But she never got the chance. What she saw earlier made everything as bright as day.
It was still Lovi. It was always Lovi.
10:59
She still didn't say anything when they got out of the car.
"Good night," Rhian said expectantly.
"Good night," she replied without looking.
She was about to go inside when Rhian stopped her by the arm.
"About earlier... it was nothing. Really. She was just thanking me. That's why you saw us hugging."
She still didn't look at her.
"You really don't have to explain, Rhi. I'm your best friend, not your girlfriend."
The words left a bitter taste in her mouth.
"Look at me," she said.
"I'm tired, Rhi. I'll see you tomorrow," she lied.
"I said look at me! Please, Glaiza."
She sounded desperate, almost begging. Still, she refused to budge.
"No."
Rhian let go of her arm. She thought she was finally free, but she was wrong. Rhian trapped her face in her hands, forcing her to look at the love of her life.
Rhian's eyes looked as though she had already decided on something. She was looking at her like she was the only woman in the world. Glaiza hated that look. It was deceiving. It gave her the hope that she wasn't supposed to feel. Hope that she didn't want to feel.
She hated the way her heart pounded every time she looked at those beautiful brown eyes.
Why did it have to be you? Seven billion people in the world, Rhian. Why did I have to fall for you?
Glaiza had asked herself that over and over again.
11:01
"Let go of me," she whispered.
"No," Rhian answered firmly. "I can't. I won't."
Her eyes started to well up. Tears were blurring her vision. Perhaps it was better this way. She wouldn't be able to see the face of the woman who could make her happy and hurt her at the same time.
Rhian wiped her tears and held her in her arms like she'd never let her go.
She just kept on crying. It felt good to be in her arms. If only it could be that way forever.
11:06
Rhian pulled away to look at her. Her hands held her face once again. Her thumbs wiped the remaining tears and gently caressed her cheeks.
