11/11

She broke down. Oh, how her love broke down the moment she asked her to marry her.

Rhian could do nothing but catch Glaiza and cradle her in her arms as she sobbed. She let the moments pass as they knelt on the ground, crying.

"Love?" she called once the sobs died down.

With that, Glaiza immediately moved away. No. More like pushed herself away from her and it hurt Rhian more than an outright rejection.

"Glai," she called again as they both stood up.

Glaiza harshly wiped her own tears.

"Go home, Rhi."

She was slowly drowning with those words.

"G-Glaiza."

She took a step forward but Glaiza raised a hand to stop her.

"Rhian, please. I can't."

She wished someone would just kill her now.

She looked down. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop the tears from falling again or her shoulders from shaking. Air was escaping her and she couldn't even breathe it back in.

She heard Glaiza's footsteps. She was losing her. Or maybe she already has. Perhaps she was too late.

But then she felt a hand on the back of her head and lips on her forehead.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean it like that."

"What do you mean, Glai?"

But she didn't answer. She just smiled with tears in her eyes and walked away.

"You did what?" Bianca asked in disbelief.

"Asked her to marry me," she replied while she used her fork to toy with whatever's left of the slice of salted caramel cake she ordered.

Bianca didn't say anything. After a while her friend crossed her arms and sighed.

"Dumbhead."

She glared. "Wow. Really, B. Thank you for your support."

"I told you to tell her how you feel, not give her a nervous breakdown."

"I did not, okay! You said to tell her how I feel and that's what I did."

"Really? Did you say it? Did you say what she needed to hear?"

"Shoot." She slapped her forehead. That was it.

"Dumbhead."

"I know," she said as she sank in her seat.

"What are you going to do now?"

"I don't know."

She groaned and roughly messed with her hair.

She had been in limbo since that night. She hasn't seen Glaiza for a week now and it was killing her.

She had been visiting her, but she had only gotten as far as the front door Glaiza wouldn't open. She wasn't even answering her calls or replying to her messages.

"I really don't know."

She found herself in front of Glaiza's apartment again. This time she was trying to balance the bouquet of flowers, boxes of Glaiza's favorite comfort food, and a panda stuffed toy in one arm while her free hand rang the doorbell again. There was still no answer so she tried knocking on the door. It was a weekend so she knows Glaiza wouldn't be anywhere else.
