"Special delivery!"
Althea looked up from the mountain of paperwork on her desk. She automatically smiled when she saw who was at the door.
There she was. The person she's been dying to see all day, smiling, holding a bouquet of red tulips.
"Hey you," she said as she stood up to meet her, a big smile still on her face.
"Flowers for the beautiful lady," she smiled as she handed Althea the bouquet.
Oh God, this woman. Althea missed her voice. She missed her. Okay, she was here yesterday too, but she just couldn't help it.
"Thank you, Jade." Althea had to resist the urge to hug her so she took the flowers instead. She looked down to hide her face when she felt her cheeks starting to burn.
"Anything for you, m'lady," Jade replied. She adjusted her red cap that matched her red and white collared shirt.
Althea blushed even more. Hearing Jade call her "m'lady" automatically sends butterflies to her stomach. Jade earned a slap on the arm for that.
The woman in front of her just laughed, showing her perfect teeth and all Althea could do was stare. She didn't know what it was about Jade that made her act like a teenager who couldn't believe her high school crush just noticed her. So she just stood there, her mouth gaping, staring at the brunette with the most beautiful pair of chocolate brown eyes she had ever seen.
"Hey, are you okay?" Jade had stopped laughing and was now looking at her with a worried expression.
She doesn't know how long she's been staring at the beautiful creature right in front of her. She quickly shook her head to shake off the thoughts that occurred to her when her gaze landed on Jade's lips.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine."
Jade looked unconvinced.
"Are you sure?" She asked Althea when she saw the pile of documents on her desk. "I was actually worried when I saw you earlier."
Her brows furrowed. Jade giggled.
"See? You had that same look on your face when I came in, only scarier. You looked like you were ready to yell at someone," Jade joked as she massaged the short-haired woman's forehead.
Althea instantly closed her eyes upon feeling Jade's skin against hers. She smiled as a new sensation took over her being. All the stress from the confusing reports and financial statements she had been trying to comprehend had faded away. She hummed in appreciation as she started to relax.
"Feeling better?" Jade asked.
She now held Althea's face in her hands. Althea could feel her thumb gently caressing her cheeks. She opened her eyes and smiled when she saw Jade's face. She nodded in response.
"Good. You should take a break from time to time. Don't stress yourself too much, okay?"
"Got it, boss."
"Anytime."
They both laughed. They stared at each other for heaven knows how long until the door suddenly swung open.
"Tsong! Ten minutes. Just wanna remind you about the meeting for the---"
They turned to see Batchi standing by the door. She had one hand on the doorknob and the other slightly raised as if she was knocking while opening the door. Typical Batchi.
"Ooh. Developments," she gave them a teasing look from under her glasses and wiggled her eyebrows. Jade was still holding her.
They immediately separated, realizing their position. Jade cleared her throat and eased the imaginary creases on her uniform. Althea scowled at Batchi but she just laughed at her.
