IX.
The weather was so hot, extremely hot today, I regretted going out. Well, I had to because I have to bring these paper files to Mikhail he forgot at home. It was important, some audit papers I had checked.

He asked a favor and I would have done so willingly. Which I really did, he rarely asks for something from me. I excused from my work, yep, I did, and rushed back home to get the papers. I took a cab to get to his office and now I'm waiting for him outside the building.

I should have brought an umbrella in the least. It's scorching. I felt stuffy.

"Oh, thank God," he said when he came.

I handed him the folder. "Sorry, there's heavy traffic," I said. It was almost lunch when I arrived.

"It's okay, I just need to submit this to my supervisor," he said. "Thank you," he smiled at me with gratitude.

I held my breath for a second.

Then, when I recovered from that overwhelming feeling, I returned his smile. "You're welcome," I replied and lowered my gaze because it was too much, the way he stared at me. "Well, I'll get going," I said, unknowingly fanning myself with the hankie I have.

"No, wait for me. Let's go grab a lunch since you're already here," he said.

Wow, that's a first.

I nodded in response. Talking seemed strenuous in this hot weather.

"Good, give me 5 minutes," he said, not waiting for my reply as he hurriedly went back inside.

I wanted to take my coat off but I was wearing a plain black, short-sleeved dress inside. I wish I could get in somewhere and take it off. Metropolis weather is notorious. I had to squint my eyes at the heat.

Finally, I saw him exiting the elevator. Alhamdulillah.

I think I'm seeing two of him.

"Let's go?" He asked as he neared.

The world started to spin. No not again.

I woke up and found out I was in a clinic. I found him waiting on my bedside. "Are you okay?" He asked real concerned.

"Yes, I...it was just so hot," I said. "How long was I out?" I asked.

"Just few minutes," he said. "I'm sorry you had to go here at this hot weather."

"It's fine, it's not your fault I fainted. It's not the first time it's happened," I said, trying to get up.

"You should have told me," he said. "Are you sure you're okay? You can rest a little bit more."

I smiled, then it was replaced by slight shock when I noticed my headscarf was removed as well as my coat.

"Don't worry, I removed them myself. And only the female nurse saw," he said when I spot my discarded garments piled at the foot of the clinic bed.

"Thanks," I said. "How about that lunch?" I asked. He could be hungry.

"Are you sure? You could rest a little bit," he repeated. Now this is the Mikhail Ibrahim I've been looking for.

"I'm sure," I assured him as I start to wear my head scarf. "Thank you for being there when I fainted. It could have been a disaster."

He didn't say anything.

Something changed that day. Not a drastic one but still a change. His gentleman side finally emerged.
