rejection

Being rejected is like being slapped across the face.
It leaves a big throbbing red handprint for everyone to see.
Even if it happened in private, everyone can see the evidence.
They've noticed you've been posting lots of pictures with this girl.
They've noticed you hold her hand when you're together.
You told your friends when she kissed you.
SLAP!
It leaves you confused and dazed.
Everything was going so well.
"I just want to be friends," rings in your ears.
You remember your lips on hers, your arm around her,
Those fingers intertwined in yours.
Her laugh is all you hear.
Her smile is all you see.
Her touch is all you wish to feel.
God how you want to wake up
For this conversation not to be real.
But it is.
It is and the messages are not clearing from your inbox.
The tears will not stop rolling down your face over your blushed stinging handprint.
You wish you could unsay those words.
You long for a time before you knew how she felt.
Before you knew she was leading you on.
Because that is what was happening.
Before you jump off a cliff, make sure there is something other than sharp rocks to break your fall.
Rejection does not make you worthless.
You are like ice cream.
Just because that person wasn't feeling ice cream right now,
It doesn't mean that no one ever will.
It doesn't mean someone will never kiss you and you will be their favorite flavor.
One day you will be kissed and kissed and this person will never get enough of you.
They will scrape the inside of the carton, savoring every bit of you and then drive to the store at 2am to get more of YOU.
That is the type of love you need. That is the type of love you give.
THAT IS THE TYPE OF LOVE YOU DESERVE.
Do not let this rejection cause you to curl up inside yourself and hide from everyone.
You will find love.
It just wasn't her.
And though her handprint is still warm and your posts about her are still up and the feelings are still there and you feel like absolute shit,
It will be okay.
Rejection is not THE end.
It is AN end.

Writer's notes:
This is what I am going through right now. Having a pretty rough time. But it is true. I will be okay.
Let me know what you think lovelies. 💓
