⭐️"Mama, come on!" Gerard pulled on Donna's sleeve as she helped Mikey tie his shoe laces up.
"C'mon, Mikes, Gee's throwing a strop." Mikey giggled as Donna zipped his coat up and stuck her tongue out at her seven year old son.
"Maaa," Gerard whined, pulling on Donna's coat once again.
"Okay, baby, we're coming!" Donna chuckled, holding onto Mikey's hand and leading the five year old out of their small suburban house.
"Are we going to Frankie's first?!" Gerard called as he skipped around the car and into his seat in the back.
"No, babe, we'll meet Frank and the others at the laser tag." Gerard nodded and kicked his feet as Donna started the car. He smiled to himself, holding tight onto Frank's present and occasionally glancing over at Mikey throughout the journey to the laser tag centre.
"We here?" Gerard perked up as Donna pulled into a parking space.
"Yep, baby, c'mon." Gerard squealed and unbuckled his seat belt, jumping out of the car. Donna helped Mikey out of the car and made both boys hold her hands as they walked over to the grey warehouse that housed the town's laser tag. Gerard was giddy with excitement, practically skipping through the doors and over to the party group.
"Geebear!" Frank cheered, running over and squeezing Gee into a tight hug.
"Frankie!" Gerard giggled, squeezing the older boy just as tightly. "Mama Iero!" Gee squealed, running to hug Linda once the hug between him and Frank ended. Linda smiled and ruffled Gerard's hair before the hyperactive seven year old greeted everyone else in the party group. Frank had invited most of the kids from his neighbourhood; Patrick, Pete, Andy, Joe, Brendon, Dallon, Ryan, Spencer, Ray, Sarah, Ashley, Jamia, Lindsey and, obviously, Mikey and Gerard.
"You guys ready to go in?" Linda asked, smiling at the excited group of kids. They all cheered, running into the prep room where they put on the currently colourless vests and picked up the laser guns.
"Okay, you guys, I'm Alex, I'm gonna take you through and my good friend Jack will give you a tour of the actual laser tag area. What's the age range?"
"5 to 9." Linda spoke up.
"Okay, awesome, we've got the team list all set up so Jack will give you your numbers." Alex smiled. "Any questions? Awesome, follow me." He led the group of kids through to a smaller room with benches on either side. A boy slightly taller than Alex with a blue stripe in his hair smiled at the kids.
"I'm gonna give you all you numbers and I need you to remember them, okay?" A chorus of 'yes, sir's filled the room and Jack grinned. He fiddled with the iPad he was holding and looked back up at the kids. "Okay, Patrick and Jamia you two are number ones." Patrick gasped as his vest lit up red with a black one in the middle, Jamia's doing the same but blue. "Okay, when you're all lit up I need red one side and blue the other." Jack smiled, fiddling for a further few minutes until everybody's vests where lit up either red or blue.
"Okay, roll call!" Alex called, checking his clipboard. "I'll call the number and if you're red or blue in that colour you need to say 'yeah', get it?" All the kids nodded and Alex smiled. "One?"
"Yeah." Patrick and Jamia called, sharing a smile.
"Two?" Sarah and Mikey. "Three?" Gerard and Andy. "Four?" Lindsey and Ashley. "Five?" Joe and Frank. "Six?" Pete and Brendon. "Seven?" Ryan and Ray. "Eight?" Dallon and Spencer. "Cool, that's everyone, let's get in." The red team went in first as their base was furthest away from the entrance.
"I hope Mikey's okay." Gee mumbled to Ryan.
"He'll be fine, Gee. Frank'll look after him." Gerard nodded, finding comfort in the fact that even though they were on the other team to him Frank would know Gee was worried about his little brother and would do as much as he could to make sure Mikey wouldn't get hurt.
"Five... Four... Three... Two... One!" The voiceover sounded the countdown, as soon as it ended the oldest kids on each team made a sprint for the other team's base. Joe, Pete, Ryan and Spencer ran off into the darkness. Lindsey and Gerard shared a look before they both ran to two separate sniper towers on either side of the map.
"Guard the base!" Gee heard Lindsey shout to Patrick and Sarah before she was out of his earshot. Gerard giggled as he shot Brendon, the older boy groaning as he ran off to the charging station on the blue's side of the room. A hand on the base of his back made Gee yelp and drop his gun. He turned around to be met by Frank.
"Frankie! Gerard cheered, pulling Frank into a hug.
"Hey, Geebear." Frank smiled, hugging the younger boy back. As soon as the hug ended Frank had Gee against the wall, their lips pressed together. Gerard gasped but quickly pushed against Frank's lips with the same passion. Frank pulled away and brushed Gee's dyed red hair from his face. "You look really pretty in this light." Frank admired Gerard's face, the blue lighting bringing out his bone structure even more than usual.
"Thank you, Frankie." Gee blushed, his cheeks heating up under Frank's touch. The older boy grinned before quickly shooting Gee and running off towards the red's base. Gerard's fingers brushed his lips, eyes wide as he tried to make sense of what had just happened.
"Gee, come on!" Pete shouting pulled him from his thoughts as he fumbled to pick his gun up and sprint over to the red charging station. He pressed the sensor of his gun against the charger until his vest lit up red once again. He headed back to his place, determined to get back at Frank.
