Three years since Andy left. Joe was finally sober, working at the coffee shop Pete and Patrick owned. Joe still wore his wedding ring everyday, old pictures of Andy and Ruby stayed scattered around the house.

"Thank you, come again." He smiled, watching as the customer left with their cup of coffee. He sighed, wiping down the counter and adjusting his apron.

"Hey, when are you off?" Pete asked, fixing an apron around his waist.

"Twenty minutes." Joe sighed. Pete nodded, looking up as the bell sounded and the door opened. A familiar ginger walked in with a little girl and Joe's breath caught in his throat. "A-Andy?"

"Joe? I had no idea you were here, it's okay, we can leave."

"No- no, it's okay, I'll get you a coffee. Decaf still?" Andy nodded.

"Surprised you remembered." Joe smiled sadly, turning to the coffee machine. He turned around and filled one of the cardboard cups with decaffeinated coffee and two sugars. "Exactly how I like it." Andy smiled, taking the cup from Joe's hand. Joe looked down at the little girl next to his husband.

"Hey, Ruby." She shuffled behind Andy, holding onto his pant leg. Joe's eyes filled with tears. "She doesn't remember me. My little girl doesn't know who I am." He looked back up at the ginger man, letting a tear fall.

"Joe..."

"No. I've been sober for nearly three years, Andy. For you and Ruby."

"You never called."

"You changed your number. Nobody's heard from you in years!" Joe snapped. Pete set a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him.

"You can leave early, Joe. If you need the day off tomorrow just call me." Joe nodded, taking the apron off and walking around the counter. He got to the door before Andy spoke up, his voice wavering.

"Talk to me, please."

"Why, so you can blame everything on me? Remind me that if it wasn't for my choices my daughter would still know who I am?!"

"Hear me out, Joe, please. We need to talk." Joe sighed and nodded, taking a seat at a table in the far corner of the shop. His husband sat the other side with their daughter and held Joe's hand. "I'm sorry I didn't make more of an effort, it was unfair of me to stop you seeing Ruby and I want you to be able to have a relationship with her."

"Thank you." Joe smiled slightly, looking across at Andy.

"And we're still married, I think we should have a second chance to make this work. I will always love you."

"I love you too." Andy smiled, brushing his thumb against the back of Joe's hand.

"You know, I told Ruby all about you. She knows how we met, our first date, the day she was adopted, all of my favourite memories with you."

"She must be at least four by now."

"Yea, four. She's shy, though. Didn't speak until she was nearly three. But she's smart, top of her class in almost everything." Joe smiled proudly at his daughter.

"I'm sorry I haven't been here for you two. I would take it all back if I could - the drugs, i mean."

"I know, Joe. I wish I had helped instead of leaving but I didn't know what to do, I had to protect Ruby. I would have stayed if it was just us."

"I don't think I could have stopped if it was just us." Joe sighed, looking down at his coffee. Andy squeezed his hand, letting out a quiet sigh.

"Let me take you home. Where do you live?"

"Still at our house. I did everything I could to keep it. After loosing you I couldn't let go of that house." Andy set Ruby on her feet, standing up from his seat. He held Joe's hand again, leading him out of the coffee shop and to their -once shared- house.

"I'll call you." Andy smiled, leaning in to capture his husband's lips in a sweet kiss. Joe almost melted, missing Andy's lips more than he thought was possible. But it ended quicker than he had wanted, his lips slightly bruised and parted. "I love you." The older man smiled, letting go of Joe's hand and walking away from the house with his daughter.
