The elevator door opened to the building I hadn't been at for a week. It had been refreshing, and I met with Ren almost everyday to head out to Café Coffee. Now I was back again, without my partner.
"Director, you called me in today?" I called out as I descended the stairs to the lower level. He glanced up at me, giving me a nod.
"There's been a new incident that we believe Rizal was involved in." I perked up, landing at the bottom of the stairs. "A manufacturer facility for weapons for the military was raided last night. Some bombs disappeared, and we have suspicions to believe the hit was done by Rizal."
"What isn't anymore," I muttered under my breath. The director heard me, giving me a noise of agreement. "So, what do you want me to do? I don't have my partner," I spoke louder. The director turned, waving his hand at one of the computer people. After a few taps, a picture went up on one of the screens.
"The reason why we're having you go in without your partner is because in this case, he isn't needed. We just need you to head to the facility and ask the workers a few questions about what happened. No danger, no need for someone to watch your six, just an easy in and out." I nodded my head to show that I was acknowledging his words. I was dismissed to head off, and I turned to do so when a room caught my eye.
Armory
It was time I took a little detour.

Meet me in the hospital parking garage in ten minutes. First floor. I hit send on the messaging tab, not having to wait long before he responded.
Okay...
It was a quick trip from HQ to the hospital parking. My car was parked, and I was leaning against its trunk as Ren pulled in next to me. He was quick to shut off his car, stepping out as he eyed me warily.
"Yo, Lo! Ha, get it, your name is Lorenzo. Lo for short. Yolo... like the old slang from the 2010's," I started in a teasing voice to help him loosen up. His shoulders sagged from their tensed position.
"Please stop embarrassing us," he groaned out. I filed the nickname away, just so I remembered to bring it up whenever I wanted to tease him.
"Aw, but that's half the fun," I snickered out, watching as he rolled his eyes.
"I will do everything in my being to humanly block you," he threatened, to which I just rolled my own eyes in response.
"You won't be saying that when I explain to you why you're here," I chimed out in a sing song voice, turning towards him with a devious grin. The hesitancy returned to his features as he looked around us.
"Did you get called back into work today? Why are you here? More importantly, why did you text me to meet you here?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not here to tell you anything about what's going on at work," I said in a serious tone, while nodding my head to say the opposite. Ren's eyes lit up as he realized what I was getting at.
"What's going on at HQ?"
"I'm not allowed to divulge the information that we have been given which involves Rizal and his terrorist acts that we have been investigating," I told him, a smile working onto my lips as I winked at him.
"And I suppose you don't have any leads you can tell me about, do you?" he asked, going along with my act. His arms crossed as he leaned back onto his car, listening to me.
"In no way can I tell you about the weapons facility that was attacked last night, and of which I am being sent to ask questions about."
"I don't suppose you happen to have a weapon for me?" he tested to see how far I had gone to include him. I grinned, turning around and lifting the back of my jacket to reveal the handgun I had swiped from the armory.
"Not. At. All," I punctuated, grabbing the handle of the gun and placing it on my car. "And in no way can I allow you to pick up this gun that I have openly set on the back of my car, that I can completely control you from not entering to head towards the facility you don't know about." Ren shook his head at me, grabbing the gun and putting it in his waist band. Then he went to the passenger side door. He opened it, pausing to look back at me.
"Let's go, Simon Says," he teased, to which my smile dropped as I stared at him.
"You don't do the opposite of what Simon Says," I pointed out as I rounded to the driver's side. He just smiled as he ducked into the car.
"You do if they don't say 'Simon Says'."

The facility was different than what I expected as we pulled up to it. It was a single story, sprawling over a large amount of area. A few cars were outside, two people talking between each other. We parked near them, stepping out. I sucked in a breath at the blistering heat. With the building outside the city's atmosphere, it was obvious that we were in the summer time.
"Are you the agents from the FBI?" a woman asked, breaking away from the conversation she was having with the man next to her. I nodded, pulling my badge out, and showing them my ID quickly before putting it away without dropping it.
"Nice," Ren whispered proudly next to me. I shot him a grin.
"Yes, the agency sent us to get some answers from you about what happened last night. What can you tell us?" The woman looked nervous, glancing over to her male counterpart to go ahead.
"We're the managers of the building during the night. We aren't here, but if there is an issue, then we get called. No one works the lines, just security guards that patrol until the next shift comes in.
"We got a call at about 2:30 where one of the guards didn't know why, but he got a suspicious feeling. He went to go check the shipments that were going out today, and found one that had been broken into. Ten bombs were taken from the container."
"Were there any surveillance videos?" Ren prompted. The women nodded her head.
"There was, but it was unexplainable. As the person moved from camera to camera, the visual would cut. We have no idea what they look like. They were in the building for less than half an hour, which makes us believed that it has been planned for a while. It's a maze here if you don't know where to go."
"Give us a moment," I spoke, offering them an sympathetic smile as I pulled Ren aside with me.
"This doesn't tell us anything," I whispered to him when the two managers were out of earshot. "Sure he has bombs, but we don't know where he went. How do we get anything out of this?" Ren was silent as he thought over the information.
"What if we don't look at where he went, but where he can use the bombs?" Ren mused, with his fingers holding his chin. My eyes widened at his reasoning.
"We need to get back to headquarters now." I hurried back to the two people, apologizing for the fact they had to go through this before excusing ourselves. Ren was already in the passenger seat of the car when I scurried back over to the car.
"Welcome back, where to?" The car asked as I started it up.
"Headquarters. I want to be there in ten minutes," I ordered the AI, strapping myself in with my seatbelt.
"Are you sure? Ten minutes would cause us to go 15 miles over the speed limit," the car warned.
"I'm sure. Get us there in ten minutes," I responded firmly. The car beeped as the order processed through, and we reversed before rocketing back to the city.
