"Good morning! The sun is shining; the birds are chirping; it's a beautiful day!" Ren chirped as he burst into my room. I groaned at his chipper mood, pulling the blanket over my head.

After we had talked yesterday, we agreed to go back to my house and make things up in physical ways. I sat up in bed, hugging the blanket to my chest as I wiped the sleep from my eyes.

"What are you doing?" I grumbled, still trying to wake up.

"It's light recon today around the neighborhood!" I squinted out at him, rubbing more sleep from my eyes.

"Are those... explosives on you?" He looked down at the vest of explosives with a grin.

"Five pounds to be exact," he answered proudly. That woke me up as I stared at him warily.

"Please tell me it's removable." He took one off to demonstrate my question.

"Just because I've made a few suicidal jokes doesn't mean I'm ready to commit. Of course they're removable!" I hummed in response.

"Let's go get McDonalds before we get going. Come on! Hup, hup! Off the bed!" he hollered, doing a 180 on the subject. I squawked as he came around the bed, pushing me out from under the covers. I followed his demands, quickly getting dressed before we took off towards McDonalds. I happened to live only a few blocks away from one. Along the way, we shot teases back and forth.

Lorenzo wore a loose jacket, zipped up to hide his "tools" for our recon mission today. He explained to me that the director stated we weren't spending enough time doing work and too much alone time together. To fix that, we were spending alone time together, while doing work.

"What are you thinking about getting?" he asked me as we stared at the menu. I hummed in response, my eyes scanning over the options.

"I'll just have a large strawberry banana smoothie, please," I ordered. The lady punched into my order.

"That'll be-"

"Wait, I'm getting her order with mine, I'd like a McMuffin with medium vanilla shake." The cashier added it to mine, telling us the total. Ren took out his wallet from behind, taking out the omnicard and waving it in front of the scanner on the back of the register. A confirming beep sounded. He slid the card back into his thin wallet, which went into his pocket. We sat for a bit before our order number was called.

I gripped my smoothie, sipping it happily as Ren unfolded the wrap around his sandwich and took a bit. He held the shake in the other hand. I opened the door, looking back at him.

"Thank you for pa-" I screamed as the glass next to me shattered following the sound of a gun going off quietly. Curse words flew from Ren's mouth as he shoved half his sandwich into his mouth before tossing the rest into the trash can.

"Mof!" he tried yelling, grabbing my wrist as he yanked me away. I took a sip out of my drink, picking up the pace as he let go of my hand. A man on the building we were approaching stood up, taking off on the roof.

"Faer!" Ren muffled, pointing up and taking off for the building's front door. I followed after him, taking off my glasses so I could use my powers more freely. I tucked them into my jacket pocket as I followed him up two flights of stairs to the roof. At some point he must have dropped his shake because both his hands were rested on his gun as he prowled out the door to the roof. I sipped cautiously on my smoothie, my eyes darting back and forth in search of the guy. I tried focusing on thoughts, surprised to find none.
