JAC'S POV

I sat on the edge of the bed. My hand passed over my stomach, not feeling a single indication that there were instruments in there patching up internal bleeding. I sighed, looking up from my bare stomach and rolling the shirt down. I grabbed for my glasses that sat on a side table.

I heard a shuffling noise by the door, looking up to see Ren leaning against the door frame. He was in dark washed jeans, a white tee covered by a black leather jacket.

'Should I tell her "I told her so"?' I rolled my eyes, fully pulling my glasses on.

"Shut up," I grouched, standing from my bed. He raised an eyebrow. His arms folded automatically, his posture straightening as I headed towards the door.

"I didn't say anything!" he tried to say innocently, but his eyes sparkled with mischief and knowing. I rolled my eyes.

"You know exactly what I'm meaning. You shouldn't be mean to me, I just got out of surgery a few hours ago," I answered in a teasing tone, sticking my tongue out. He hummed in response, his eyes not straying from my face. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I went to feel my face.

"Is there something on my face?" I questioned, he itched his eyebrow, looking away. I grabbed for my eyebrows, feeling them, but not finding anything.

"No, you're fine. Let's go; I have somewhere to take you." I hesitated for a moment, before nodding and walking up to him.

"Where to?" I asked curiously. He sent me a lopsided grin, bringing his gaze back to me.

"That's a secret, Jacka Bean," he revealed, shooting me a wink. We signed me out of the hospital, him leading me down to the parking. We arrived to his car, him getting in without so much of a word of directory. I scanned the garage area before ducking into the car.

"Do I get a hint?" I inquired, a whine leaking into my voice as he started up the car. He shook his head "no", backing out of the stall. He tsked me, scolding my curiosity.

"Curiosity killed the cat as the old saying goes," Ren chimed. I rolled my eyes, grumbling as we drove through an intersection.

"But satisfaction brought it back," I finished in a mutter. He chuckled, but didn't care to elaborate on a hint. Not that he really needed to, because as we continued to drive, my surroundings became more and more familiar. I perked up, my eyes watching as well known landmarks passed me by. My heart picked up in excitement as the car slowed to a stop.

"Welcome to your surprise." I shot him a beaming smile, jumping out of the car before he had time to cut the engine.

"I didn't realize you remembered me bringing up Noeman Park!" I exclaimed, my eyes instantly seeking out my bench. It was open. Next I sought out possible bench stealers, finding none. Ren appeared next to me.

"You seemed like you really wanted to come by here again," Ren responded, his voice gentle. I looked up to see him gazing off. I raised an eyebrow at his suspicious behavior. He seemed to snap out of his state before he looked down at me again.

"Lead me to your bench, Psycho," he announced. So much for acting different. I all but skipped to my bench giddily, not letting Ren ruin this for me. I hummed happily, searching for a person or couple to prey on. Adjusting my glasses, I leaned forward as a jogger started down a near by pathway.

"Her," I started, pointing to the blonde, "she's jogging to wear off the stress that's been building from her divorce. Her wife is never home, and she's tired of being alone."

"Wow, that's depressing," Ren mused, his eyes leaving the jogger to look around. "Do the picnickers!" he announced loudly, pointing in their direction. I giggled, my focus switching to the dark haired boy and girl. The girl appeared to be around my age, while the boy was younger. She was dressed in darker clothing while his shirt was a bright blue. He seemed to be talking animatedly while she silently listened.

"She really hates to picnic but agreed to do it because she accidentally slapped him this morning when he woke her up with a wet willy," I snorted out, biting my lips to keep from grinning. Ren laughed loudly. He looked around again, a smile on his face.

"Oh my god, Becky, so last night I totally got laid by Killigan, and it honestly wasn't even that good," he screeched, trying to mimic a girl's voice. I turned to face the way he was looking to see two women with exercise weights power walking next to each other. I giggled a bit, seeing the other girl respond back.

"Well, Marcia, I told you he had a tiny penis. Did you listen? Well... clearly not, ha ha," I responded back, sending a teasing grin to Ren. He gasped at me.

"You... you actually said penis!" I rolled my eyes, lightly pushing my shoulder into his. We continued our routine, the time passing by just like the people. I enjoyed myself, a smile almost permanently on my face. I glanced around once again, a small building catching my eye.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom really quickly," I announced, feeling the pressure building slightly in my abdomen. I felt a bit disappointed at my body. It was choosing the moment I was enjoying myself to ruin it with its natural urges.

"Let me come with you," Ren offered. I raised an eyebrow, which he returned. "Don't girls always go in groups? Think of me as the other g- don't think of me as a girl," he backtracked over his own words. I giggled, standing up from the bench and stretching.

We made our way over to the building, and I slipped into the ladies room while Ren stood outside the building to wait. I quickly did my business, washing my hands and drying them before skipping my way out to meet with Ren.

Only to find him not there.

I rolled my eyes, leaning against the wall. There was no doubt he figured he should probably use the restroom too.

"Hey, there," a voice purred. I froze, my fingers hovering over my interface I was about to open. I raised my gaze, but eyes locking onto amber ones. It was a man about my age. His light hair was long, wrapping below his chin. I sent him a polite smile, glancing over to the male's restroom.

"Hi," I answered shortly, looking around to try to make it obvious I wasn't interested.

"So, what's your name? Waiting on a girlfriend in the bathroom?" he prodded, sending me a megawatt smile.

"Oh, no I'm waiting on a male friend," I tried again, rubbing my arm and glancing away. He nodded his hand in understanding. Resting his hand against the wall next to me, he leaned closer. I shrank back, hoping to maximize the space between us.

"I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we took a small walk around the park to get to know each other," he responded, his grin turning lazy and more lopsided. I rushed to think of a way to turn him down lightly, when an arm snaked around my shoulders.

"I think he would mind." My eyes shot over to the person next to me. I basically melted into Ren's hold, relieved he saved me from the guy. The guy's mouth twisted down into a frown. He looked like he was ready to say something when Ren's free hand clasped my chin.

In a swift movement, he moved my head towards him, tilting my head up as his lips crashed onto mine. I froze, my eyes widening at the sudden fierce attack. My lips pressed uncomfortably against my teeth with his force. His mind opened up for me, his thoughts rushing in quickly.

'Please, don't kill me. Please, don't kill me.' I shut out the thoughts, closing my eyes as I responded back to his kisses with equal force. I felt his body stiffen under me, before he pulled away.

"That should keep you over until we get to the gas station bathroom," he murmured to me, just loud enough for the guy in front of us to hear. I felt my cheeks heat up at his words, despite knowing there was no real meaning behind it. I glanced over to the guy in front of us who had awkwardly backed off. He had walked a few steps backwards, still staring at us before turning on his heels and stalking off.

Once the creepy guy was gone, I expected Ren to drop the act. Instead, his arm stayed around my shoulders, and when I looked back at him, he was still gazing down at me with unreadable eyes.

I met his stare, a small smile curling the edges of my lips. His brows knitted a bit with confusion.

"I won't kill you," I spoke softly in a teasing tone.
