Max
I tried calling Alice between our argument and now and even went to her dorm room but her roommate, Christie told me she hasn't come back yet. I hung around the room for awhile but by 8:45 pm, I was getting worried. So I started to walk around campus.
I heard laughing from around the corner of a building so I went to go see if it was her. I snuck around the corner and saw it was but she was talking some guy and giggling at whatever he had to say to her. My heart stopped and tears spilled out of my eyes.
The guy looked up from Alice and the smile that was on his face faded and he cleared his throat. "What? What is it?" Alice asked and looked over her shoulder and she sighed through her nose. "Oh. It's just Max." She sounded upset I was there. "I'll.. go." The guy said and started to leave but Alice looked at him and grabbed his sleeve. "No it's okay. Max was just leaving. Right Max?" She asked and looked back at me.
The guy just shook his head. "I'm not getting in between this. I thought y'all broke up. But I can tell you guys really haven't. So I ain't gonna get between this unless y'all do. Later." He said and left. Alice groaned. "God, Max." She groaned. "So you were just gonna cheat on me?" I managed to ask through my tears.
She didn't say anything and just looked at me. "I don't know what your problem with me is, Alice. But I thought you loved me." I said and ran away. I heard her calling after me and footsteps following me but I didn't care. I just wanted to get away.
I got to my dorm room and closed and locked the door. "Max.. Max!" Her voice called. I fell to the floor and cried. "Max. Please." Her voice called. It was shaky. I ignored her and I looked up at my desk. I remembered when I moved in, I accidently dropped my pencil sharpener and the blades fell out and I've kept them since. I haven't cut since I was 17. Which was 6 years ago.
There was pounding on my door. I ignored that too and opened the drawer with the razors. I brought one up to my wrist and ran it over my wrist. I winced. It hurts more than I remember.
Click.
I froze in my tracks and looked at my door. Alice came through with her makeup running down her cheek. "Maxy..." She whispered and ran up to me. "Give it to me. Right now. Please. You haven't done that in a long time." She said and held her hand out. I refused to. "Max. We aren't kids anymore. Please give it to me and let's talk about this." She said.
I moved the razor away from my wrist and gave it to her. She grabbed the drawer that was still open and took the other one. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gotten mad.. it wasn't your fault. Maxy.." She reached for me but I winced away.
Alice
I tried getting close to Max but he moved away.
I shouldn't have gotten mad at him. He wasn't at fault for being late for our date. And I shouldn't have seen that other guy.
"Max.. Maxy please." I said. "You're bleeding a lot. Let me wrap your wrist for you." I said. He looked down at his wrist. He started laughing. "A grown adult just did what they used to as a kid." He laughed and sat down on a chair. I grabbed a first aid kit from the top of his desk and grabbed a gauze and wrapping and cleaned him up.
"I'm sorry Max. I shouldn't have gotten mad." I sighed. "It's okay." He told me. I kissed his forehead. "You need sleep, Max. Come on."
