Chapter XVIII

Win or Lose?

"AGHHH!" Kira yelled. She instantly collapsed to the ground. Blood gushed out of her mouth. Kuro laughed and walked to her. He kneeled down beside her body. "You think you could defeat me? A demon lord?"

What's weird is , The witch smiled. People who are at the edge of dying wasn't suppose to smile ! Kuro stood abruptly and was going to search for Mikan but she quickly grabbed his foot and stopped him from leaving. "What the h-" Kira began to enchant a spell. Kuro tried to make her spell fail but it was too late. He became frozen in a matter of second. She says the spell and sealed him.  After she was done , He transformed into a black cat. It kept on meowing and complaining.

Hotaru and Mikan came back and saw what happened to Kira. Mikan quickly rushed towards Kira. "Kira-san , Are you okay? Please stay with us! Don't leave us now!" Mikan said while crying. Ruka came over and joined Mikan crying. 

"Ruka.. My Grandson , Take care of Mom and Dad alright? Don't lose your friends. Their really special. Alright? Promise?"

"Yes Grandma! I promise."

"Mikan-chan , I'm really sorry for cursing you and made your family in a trouble. I will lift the curse from you" She said and coughed a little. She said a few spells and a dark aura was released from Mikan's body. Mikan felt her body ligthens a little bit.  "Thank you Kira-san.." Mikan said. 

"And for this cheeky demon , Do you want me to take him or you want to take care of him?"

"It's okay Kira-san! We will take care of him. He must have been lonely all these years and wanted a friend." Mikan said and hugged Kuro. Kuro looked at Mikan and smiled. He purred when Mikan strokes his head. Natsume who was already awake gets annoyed and picks the cat up. "Don't get close to her you demon" He said and throws Kuro away. 

"Alright then , Ruka , Mikan , Everyone , I bid to you all goodbye" Kira said and smiled. 

She closes her eyes and breathed her last breathe at Ruka's arms. Her body began to wither away into sparks of light. The whole room mourned for her death. Especially Ruka. The poor lad had just met his grandmother and she was gone , forever. Ruka didn't care who was beside him and hugged the person. He hides his face in the person's arms and cries. Hotaru who was beside him lets him be since she knows that he is at his lowest state. Even if she is called the ice queen doesn't mean she is that heartless. 

Natsume comforts Mikan and soothed her. The irony. The witch she has always feared of is the same witch she is mourning for. The witch she thought was evil , wicked , despicable was actually a nice , sweet , wonderful woman who was controlled. All this time ,  she was blaming at someone who was innoncent. And now she has died , protecting her. "Mikan.. Don't blame yourself.. I know you are. Don't try to say you're fine. I know you're not" Natsume said. 

At times like this , Natsume is always dependable. Because he had experienced it. He knew what it felt to lost someone close to you. He knew it was painful , and he doesn't want Mikan to feel it too. He wants Mikan to feel safe. 

"MIKAN!!" 

Izumi and Yuka came running towards their daughter who was sitting beside Natsume. "Mother! Father!" Mikan smiled and hugged them. "Oh darling , I'm sorry we weren't there to protect you. Are you okay?" They said worriedly. "I'm okay mom ! I have my friends here !" Mikan assured her mom who kept on ranting on and on about her condition. Izumi chuckled at his wife's attitude. He calms Yuka and led her to the living room to make her rest. She has been restless on the flight. When Tsubasa contacted her saying that Mikan was fine , she nearly collapsed on the road. Izumi had to help her stand up and even carry her all the way to their vehicle. Not that he minds..

Izumi looked at Natsume for a second and their gaze met. Although he didn't want to let Mikan go this fast , he saw the love in their eyes and there's no going back. He could only watch as his only daughter grows so fast. One day , she won't be just his daughter , she will be a wife , a queen , and a mother. He nodded and smiled at Natsume who was taken back. Natsume awkwardly nodded and smiled a little. Knowing that he finally got his approval. 

Ruka finally had enough of weeping and decided that he needs to move on. He looked at the person who he has been hugging and saw the only person he never thought would let him wipe his snot with their clothes. The one and only Hotaru Imai. The blond boy widened his eyes and frozed. He panicked and quickly kneeled down in front of her , begging for mercy. "What are you doing stupid. I won't charge you for that." Ruka looked up and he felt like she was sparkling so bright. "But I will take pictures of you that will sell loads of money" The ice queen grabs her camera out of nowhere and snaps a ton of pictures of him. The poor boy looked down , his hands shaking from rage. "I HATE YOU IMAI!!" He yells and chased Hotaru. Who knows , maybe love will begin between both of them.

Tsubasa and Youichi were resting on the sofa while their father are interrogating them about the incident. Mikan also came and joined the discussion. She told the whole story about Kira and Kuro , explaining that Kira was actually good. After the explaining was done , Yuka and Izumi looked at each other and laughed. All this time , They were fearing someone they aren't supposed to fear. The couple kissed and smiled. Tsubasa and Youichi made a disgusted face while Mikan just smiled at her parents affection towards each other. Izumi and Yuka laughed at their children and the children also laughed.
