Chapter XIX:

Over

Everyone went home after the fight. They were all both tired and sad as they also lost a friend. The night went by peacefully as one by one , all of them slept except for a certain brunette. The brunette still felt the grieve and loss. The thought of her dying because to protect her made her feel as if she was to blame for her death.

She knew if she told this to the others , they would say that it was not her fault and that Kira chose to protect her that letting her die. But she can't help but feel guilty. She looked at the moon and saw it shining bright in the middle of the darkness. It shines brighter than the others.

"Kira.. If you're there , I'm sorry.. I'm sorry you had to die because of me.. I'm sorry for ruining your chance to live together with your grandson.. I'm sorry" Mikan felt her tears slowly comes down her cheeks. She laughed at herself , saying sorry to no one in the middle of the night. She decided to go back to her room to rest for the night when suddenly a gust of wind went pass her. The feeling of warmness begin to surround her as she heard someone whispered in her ears 'Thank you Mikan.. I'm happy now'

That night , The brunette slept in peace as she dreamt about her friends and her living a happily ever after story that no one can disturb.

The next day , the squad are back to school with tiredness etched in their faces. Even if they want to skip school , they're parents won't let them as they are the prince and princess. They must become a good example for the other students.

"Hotaruu... I'm so tired.." Mikan said as she hugs Hotaru from behind. Her body was aching a lot. She could barely even lift a muscle this morning! Hotaru shooks Mikan away from hera shoulders and proceeds to class while ignoring Mikan's chattering. Deep inside , she knew Mikan was happy. Her long awaited wish has been fullfiled. The curse has been lifted and now she can be free.

Kuro became her pet and is now being taken care of Youichi , which he himself doesn't approve at all. He would rather be with Mikan than Youichi but the silver haired boy was so attached with him that he would not let go of him even for a second. It was pure torture for him.

The two girls are soon joined by they're friends as they walk to class. They would chat about unusual things that normal people wouldn't discuss but that's what makes them friends. The group chatted until they reached their seats. Yuu , Koko , and Kitsu were alreadu there , busy doing their own things. Anna peaked at what Yuu was doing while her twin peaks at Kitsu.

Mikan noticed this and secretly smiled. Her friends are slowly falling in love yet they don't know it. She glanced at Sumire and saw that she was secretly looking at Koko to see what he was doing. She giggled at her friend's tsundere personality. But she didn't notice that she herself kept on glancing at the door when it opens like she was expecting someone.

The bell rang and the students scattered back to their seats. Mikan was worried about Natsume and Ruka. They are never late for homeroom. "Hotaru.. Where are they?" Mikan asked Hotaru. But the Ice Queen herself doesn't know where the two boys are. Hotaru shrugged and focuses on her new project.

School was almost over but they still haven't seen Natsume nor Ruka. She tried to ask Yuu , Koko , and Kitsu but they didn't know as well. Mikan began to give up searching for her partner and just focus on school. She plans on visiting Natsume's mansion later on the day.

"Mikan , Where are you going?"

"I'm visiting Natsume's home. I'm curious at what he is doing right now."

She gets on the limousine and tells her driver to go to Natsume's mansion. The distance between the school and his home wasn't far. Half an hour later , Mikan finally made it and gets off the car. She was greeted by the guards. "Hello miss. What business do you have here?"

"I want to visit Natsume."

"Please wait for a bit"

The guard walks away and asks permission from the his boss and apparently , the boss permitted it. He opens the gates and lets Mikan in. When she opens the door , a load of maids are there to greet her. Mikan nodded and asked a maid to lead her to Natsume's room. When they reached Natsume's room , the maid gets in first and said that someone is here to visit him. Mikan soon enters the room and saw Natsume laying down on his bed.

His face was red and pale , he looks so weak and fragile. Mikan quickly wents to his side. "Natsume! Are you okay?" Natsume was still in daze because of the effect of his fever. He thought that he was dreaming when in fact , he wasn't. "Mikan.. Why are .. You here..?"

"I was worried you didn't come to school. So I visited you." Mikan said gently and strokes Natsume's hair. Natsume felt warm and comfortable while Mikan was stroking his hair. Mikan gets up and decided to take care of Natsume but she felt something tugging her.

"Stay.."

Natsume grabs her wrist. Mikan looks at Natsume and felt her heart soften as she saw Natsume looking at her with a sad look on his face. Mikan decided she should stay. She sits down and looks at Natsume. 'I wonder what is he thinking right now' Mikan thought

"Mikan.. Sleep with me.. You're hand is cold.." Natsume said. Mikan wanted to say no , but he kept on tugging her hand and knowing him , he won't stop until she says yes. "Fine.." Mikan gets in the covers and Natsume instantly hugs her. Natsume sighed in pleasure and kept on hugging her. She will never say this to him , but she has to admit that she felt as if when they touch sparks fly. Slowly but surely , the couple soon drift away to sleep.

When the moon finally shows it's face , Mikan woke up and finally notices the time. She abruptly stood up and forces his hands off her. Her eyes trailed to the table beside the bed and noticed a bottle of medicine and a sticky note on top off it. ' You guys are so cute !! Don't forget to thank me for this! -K ' . She was confused to what Kaoru was saying until she saw something slipped underneath the medicine. She grabs it and looked at it. It was a picture of her and Natsume hugging each other while sleeping. She instantly hides it in her pocket , hoping Natsume won't see that ever. "Natsume! Drink you're medicine!" She said while trying her best to wake him up. Natsume kept his eyes close and refuse to wake up until Mikan wakes him up the way he wants it. Mikan knows what he wanted but refused to do it as it was too embarassing to do. 

"Natsume! You'll get sick if you don't drink your medicine! If you still don't recover , I will be alone again.." Mikan said with a sad face. Two can play this game Natsume. Natsume opens one eye to peek at Mikan and saw her face with sadness. He instantly felt guilty and decided to wake up and let Mikan win this time. He really can't win against his girl. "Fine.." He surrendered and sat up to drink his medicine.

"Get well soon Natsume. I'm lonely at school without you." Mikan puts her right hand at his cheek and he slowly follows her movement like a cat. She grabs all her stuffs and decided to leave and go home since it's getting late. Natsume saw her leave and close the door behind her. He already missed her.
