"In who's thought are you immersed, Miss Slater?!"
Mrs. Hawthorne shouted at Abigail, who looked distracted from her lessons. She was engrossed in looking at the clouds while the teacher was explaining a topic. Hearing the old teacher's thundering voice, Abigail returned to her senses.
"I-Im sorry Mrs. Hawthorne! I'll b-be attentive f-from now!", Abigail stuttered out.
"It's okay. Now pay attention!"
Abigail has been acting weird since that fateful day, which didn't go unnoticed by her friends and her family. She remained in a pensive mood all the time and talked only when talked to.
"What's up? Did Tyler again say anything nasty?", Derek catechized Abigail.
"N-no. Not at all. I'm quite fine." This was how she acted for the past few days. She visibly dodged every question directed to her regarding her recent deportment.
Once she reached her home, Atiqah said derisively, hands on her hips,"I know why you're so crestfallen these days. You're now regretting your break up with Tyler, aren't you?"
"Yeah, sure," Abigail let out a chuckle, returning the mockery to its right place.
She climbed up the stairs that led to her room. Atiqah shouted, "Just tell me what happened! Did someone reject you or what?!"
"Go ask Demetria. After all, she's your source for all the gossip. I know nothing", Abigail uttered before slamming the door shut in her sister's face.
"Gosh...what the heck is happening to me?!"
Abigail let out a deep sigh and started undressing. Once in normal household clothes, she looked at herself in the mirror. She saw her face, deadpan yet something lay deep within it. She knew it, but refused to accept it.
The Depression.
Closing her eyes, she smiled at herself.
I'm so stupid! He never really wanted my help, he never acknowledged me as a friend. And here am I, thinking that I can bring him up from his predicament! Oh Lord! You should have made this realization dawn upon me much earlier. If I would have taken my current thoughts to consideration, then I would've never met Erose Miller again! Never again! Who the heck is he?! He doesn't even deserve my urbanity. He's downright demented!
But when all these thoughts flooded her mind, she never realized that tears were streaming down her cheeks. She opened her eyes to see her cheeks already stained with tears. She quickly wiped her tears away and dialed a number in her phone.
"Hello? Abby?"
"Yeah it's me. Meet up with me, at Sunshine cafe. See ya, bye."
She ended the call and sprinted to her wardrobe for a suitable outfit.

Location : Sunshine Cafeteria
Abigail stood outside the cafe, waiting for the one she's about to meet up with. She walked back and forth impatiently, looking at her watch every now and then.
"Why did you want to meet up with me?"
Abigail's face lit up as she turned round to see that Sarah had kept her promise of meeting her.
"First of all, let us go inside. We'll talk after we get a seat."
Once inside, Abigail and Sarah spotted the same table they were sitting at earlier and took a seat there.
"Now reveal it," Sarah commanded, unwilling to wait.
Abigail narrated the incident that occurred a couple of days back. She described about Erose's past that she was yet to know, how Erose reacted violently to her and how she now hated him for that.
"Hah! I told you! He's a maniac after all. Stay away from him."
"Yeah, whatever. I just wanted to help him out of the mess he was in. If he doesn't want it, then I can't help it."
Abigail took a sip of coffee that was served to both of them. Sarah noticed her. Being childhood buddies, her change in attitude for the past few days didn't go unnoticed by Sarah also. She knew, whatever hatred she showed for Erose, weren't real.
It was as if her entire being was split up in conflict. Her brain would make her feel aversion towards Erose but deep in her heart, there was a burning desire, the desire to meet again.
Sarah read her like an open book in just a few moments.
"Hey! What's up? Why are you gazing at me like a jerk?", Abigail waved her palms in front of Sarah's face, as if trying to bring her back to the reality.
"Oh, its nothing! I was just a bit distracted," Sarah trailed off, flushed.
All of a sudden, Sarah's phone beeped.
"Seems like I've got a call."
"C'mon pick it up!"
Muttering a quiet 'yeah', Sarah checked to see that it was Zac.
"Hello? Oh, yeah. She's with me now.......Yeah....what?!......o-okay....I'll convey this to her...bye."
She ended the call and looked at Abigail, tensed.
"Who was that? And why are you so chickened out?"
"Erose Miller wants to see you.....", came an ice cold reply from Sarah.
