Nate's POV

"Come on Nate! You'll love it!" Hunter whined as I was reading.

"Hunter, I'm not going to this party with you and Brett," I told him, eyes still on my book.

"Nate, please! I know you're not much of a people person, but it would be better for you to get out and find a girl. I mean, you're 28, and single!"

"Party's aren't my thing, bro."

"Well, they are now. Get out of your pajamas and get put something presentable on. We leave in 20." Hunter gave me a wink and went down to the basement, where his stuff was.

"Ugh..." I groaned, getting up and going to my closet to find something to wear.

"Nate, bro, you ready?" Hunter called out to me from the kitchen.

"Yeah! I'll be there in a second!" I yelled back and continue to fix my hair.

Once I finished, I left the bathroom and went downstairs. I put my shoes on and grabbed my sunglasses.

"Let's go," I said.

"Alright," Hunter smiled and we left to go to Brett's car. "By the way, I invited my cousin, Y/N. She's really nice."

"Okay," I said and opened the backseat door to reveal a girl with H/L H/C hair and beautiful E/C eyes.

"Hi," she greeted and gave me a smile. Bright white teeth. "I'm Y/N. You must be Nate?"

"That's me..." I said. "You're very pretty, Y/N. "

"Thank you," she blushed. "You're very handsome. I like your hair."

"Thanks," I'm pretty sure my face was bright red.

"So, Hunter tells me you're not much of a people person."

"You could say that. I'm a little anti-social," I admitted.

"And you know what? That's just fine," she chuckled. "If that's who you are, that's who you are."

I smiled and Y/N smiled back in return. She was one of those girls who understood people. I knew she was something else.

"Hey, Y/N?" I asked.

"Yes, Nate?" She responded.

"I was just curious, what do you do for work?"

"Oh, well, I work in a hospital. When someone has to go to the hospital to get some tests done or prepare for surgery, I walk them through the process. I mainly work with the women though."

"Sounds like a lot of hard work."

"Not really. I love it. I'm a people person and being able to be around kids and other people makes me so happy. What about you?"

"Oh, well, I'm a sales associate," I told her. "So, I talk to people on the phone basically. Better than talking to them face to face I face I guess."

"Interesting."

We soon arrived at the bar and walked in. Y/N and I sat down at a booth and Hunter and Brett went to the bar.

"You're not a drinker?" I asked when we sat down.

"Not much. Once and while, but I'd rather talk to you instead of getting drunk, to be honest," she laughed. "You?"

"I've drank a few times. It's not really me. I dont want to get drunk and take a girl home and make stupid mistakes."

"Smart choice, dude," she acknowledged.

A guy walked up to us, beer in hand, and was obviously drunk.

"Hey, babe," he greeted to Y/N. "You wanna get out of here and get a hotel room or something."

"Not interested, buddy," she said, trying to remain patient with him. "Buh-bye!"

"Say what now?" He asked and grabbed her wrists and pulled her up with him.

Gripping her chin, he said, "Come on, girl. I promise, you'll fucking love it."

"Dude, she said she's not interested," I spoke up. "Now, leave, please."

"Yo, who you though? Her brother?" He mocked as Y/N struggled.

"Try her boyfriend." What? Where did that come from.

"Oh, dude, I'm sorry. She's all yours. You're lucky, bro. Very lucky." He said and let her go and left, almost falling down as he walked away.

"Oh, my God!! Thank you so much Nate!!" She gasped and hugged me.

"You're welcome," I laughed and hugged her back.

"Seriously, though, Nate, you saved my ass!!"

"Anything for you," I whispered.

"What?"

"Nothing," I smiled. "Just saying how much I love you," I whispered at the end.

"I heard that!!" She accused.
