Third Persons POV

Walking down 29th and Park
I saw you in another's arms
Only a month we've been apart
You look happier

Friday nights for Nate seemed to get worse and worse. Watching couples walk around the busy sidewalks, hand in hand, kissing each other, and just being plain happy.

That used to be us, Nate always thought. Why did she leave me?

Nate regretted everything he said to Y/NN and did that night. The cussing, the abusing. He learned something that night though: Don't get drunk if you want to keep your girlfriend.

As Nate looked around, he saw Y/N walking the streets as well, but she wasn't alone. Hand in hand, her and another man walked down the sidewalk, smiling. And it wasn't just any old man. It was Nate's best friend: Hunter Hughes.

They've only been part for a month, but Y/N looked more happier than Nate and her did.

Saw you walk inside a bar
He said something to make you laugh
I saw that both your smiles were twice as wide as ours
Yeah, you look happier, you do

Nate watched as they walked inside of a bar.

Markiplier's Bar. Open 7 a.m.-Whenever Mark feels like closing.

Nate followed them into the bar and watched as they sat down at a table for two. Nate say a few tables away, listening to their laughs.

They guy must have been really funny, because Y/N was laughing a lot. More laughs than she was with Nate. Their smiles are what made Nate confused. They looked so happy and their smiles were huge.

Over and over, Nate thought, She looks happier.

Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you
But ain't nobody love you like I do
Promise that I will not take it personal, baby
If you're moving on with someone new
'Cause baby you look happier, you do

As Nate watched, he remembered all the times he made Y/N cry. He didn't mean it, but he did it. He broke her heart and she left. The worse part for Nate to deal with, was that she left without saying goodbye. Just a note that said, Work harder on controlling yourself. I'll come back when you do.

Nate also though of all the times they were happy together. Like on New Years Eve, where they shared a kiss at midnight. Or all the times that Y/N got scared and would jump into Nate's bed and cuddle next to him. So many I love you's escaped each of their mouths and it was real.

Nate stated to feel something. Anger. Jealously. But what of? Y/N was happy with someone else. Nate should feel happier for them. He remembered what he texted Y/N a week after they broke up.

If you find someone else, I won't take it personal. I'm sure you'd be happier.

He was right. They were happier.

My friends told me one day I'll feel it too
And until then I'll smile to hide the truth
But I know I was happier with you

The next day, Nate went over to his friend, Matt and his wife, Stephanie's home.

"You'll never believe this," Nate said as he drank his black coffee.

"What?" Matt asked.

"Y/N got a new boyfriend," Nate explained. "And they look so much happier than what Y/N and I did."

"Are you upset about that?" Stephanie asked.

"I don't know, maybe. I just wish I could have something like that."

"And one day, you will," Matt reassured me. "Breakups are hard, but you'll find someone. There are plenty of fish in the sea."

"As long as you're sure," Nate told him.

"I'm always sure," Matt promised.

Sat on the corner of the room
Everything's reminding me of you
Nursing an empty bottle and telling myself you're happier
Aren't you?

Nate went back to his home, and sat in a chair in the corner of the living room. He closed his eyes, trying not to look at anything. Everything was reminding him of her. Everything in his home, she touched. The bookshelf, the TV remote, the fridge, and his guitar.

He keeps telling himself she's happier with someone else, but some part of him was hoping that she missed him.

Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you
But ain't nobody need you like I do
I know that there's others that deserve you
But my darling, I am still in love with you

Nobody will ever hurt Y/N like Nate did, and nobody will ever love her like he did. He continues to tell himself that other guys deserve her mainly because she's perfect. He can't get her out of her head and some part of him is glad.

Nate swears he's going insane while he's alone. He can't stand it. One day he'll snap and get revenge, but he can't. He needs her. He needs her happiness. He needs her love.

Baby, you look happier, you do
I knew one day you'd fall for someone new
But if breaks your heart like lovers do
Just know that I'll be waiting here for you

Nate scrolled through Instagram and saw a picture of Y/N and Hunter together at Santa Monica Beach with the caption Nothing better than a nice day with the babe.

Nate couldn't help himself. He liked the post and commented something that he wasn't rude but it wasn't nice.

Natewantstobtl: You look so happy with him. Good to see. Just know that if he hurts, I'm here and I've changed.

Nate shut off his phone and got up from the chair, knowing that she's still there.
