It's hard to morn when no one knows you are morning. When no one knows you are suffering under a title wave of self destruction. He blamed himself. It was his fault after all. It was just, no one knew it.

Others blamed themselves, but he knew her leaving was on him. Emma would have never left if he would have just trusted her. He had been so stupid, so selfish. He had driven her away. She left town, because when she asked him to let her have the dagger he laughed.

When Henry's sickness had taken turn for the worst, Emma went to Blue for help. The fairy told her she would need some very strong dark magic. The only source of dark magic that strong was in Storybrook the Dark One's Dagger.

So, naturally she ran strait to Gold and begged him for the dagger. She begged the man she loved for her child's life and he had said no. He didn't trust her. He trusted her enough to keep their relationship a secret, but not enough to let her have his dagger.

When Henry slipped into a coma Emma left Town. She didn't tell anyone about her and Gold, and so no one questioned a thing when he didn't trust her.

For all everyone else knew, Gold and Emma were enemies. No one would have understood that the Savior and the Dark One were in love. Her parents surly would have flipped, and Gold would never be able to make a deal with Regina again. It as best for it to be a secret. At least that's what they told each other.

When Emma left Rumplestiltskin broke. He was already a broken man, but Emma was helping. Now that she was gone, and it was his fault, he couldn't stand himself. He had stopped making deals, and he closed down the pawnshop. He even stopped collecting rent. No one was really sure what was going on with him. No one had seen him in days, and no one went looking. They were all wrapped up in their own feelings about Emma and Henry.

It had been five day since Emma left when Rumple decided he had had enough. He slipped the dagger into his suit jacket and was off to see Henry. It was too late, but he had to try.

When he arrived everyone tried to stop him, but he simply moved them out of his way. He had to try. Even if he couldn't have Emma ha had to try and save her son. He placed the dagger over Henry and he felt it. The power was being drained from him and going to the boy.

Gold slowly fell to his knees, and pain shot through his body as he was reminded of knee. When the magic stopped he felt week. He still had his magic, but it was strained a long with his strength.

He looked up to see Henry sitting up, "What's going on?"

Gold hoisted himself to his feet using his cane more then he had during the curse. Pain creased through his body, partly because of his knee, mostly due to how hard he was pushing his week body to move. He still held the dagger flimsily in his hand.

He started for the door, but was stopped by David, "Why did you do that?"

"Emma, I love her. I I need to do." Gold stumbled, pushing David from his way. "I need to go." He used every bit of strength to transport himself to the town line. He took a deep breath, and let the dagger fall against the pavement. He stepped over the line to find Emma.
