Mr. Gold looked down at the box on his lap. It was perfectly wrapped in red paper and had a green bow tied around it.

Bell had talked him into this. A Christmas dinner with the rest of the 'heroes'. Sometimes he wished he had never saved this stupid town and earned that stupid title. It had his suck here, playing secret Santa.

He had gotten Regina, and given her a  red hair ribbon with a small crystal ornament. It was her mothers a very long time again. He knew she would know what it was, and would love it. When she opened it she hadn't shown anyone, but she looked over to him and gave a small smile, the kind he had seen her give when she was a child.

His beautiful wife had gotten a little antique Belle tree ornament. She had gotten so excited over such a little thing. After so many years you would have thought she would have gotten over the forth wall, but apparently she was still climbing.

He looked back to his gift. He plucked the bow from the top placing it in his wife's hair and then started to undo the wrapping paper.

"We aren't reusing the paper Rumplestiltskin. Just rip it." Killian growled.

Emma smacked him and the muttered, "What did we talk about?" He would have laughed, hadn't him and Belle had the same 'chat' before coming over.

Rumplestiltskin started to open the box, and looked inside. A small ring sat inside. A silver colored band with a black diamond. Though, he knew that it wasn't always black.

He looked up at the people around him, "Thank you."That was all he could say.

In all honesty is was baffled. No one here was old enough to know his mother, let alone know her ring or where to find it. How had they known about it? Where had they found it? Who  was they?

He had no idea, and it didn't matter.

But it did...

And he would find out...

But it could wait until tomorrow.
