Dark worked meticulously, taking his time grabbing each of the pre-threaded sutures with tweezers and pushing it through Jack's skin.
Meanwhile I kept him calm by stroking his hair and whispering to him. Anna helped too by playing on the bed. If you consider that helping.
"Have you seen the ones on his back?" I asked when Dark was 2/3 done.
"Ya. They'll be fine."
"Ok." I said simply.
I laid my head on Jack's chest and felt his heartbeat as his chest moved up and down. He hasn't moved since he came home. He hasn't woken up or anything. Is he in a coma?
"Alright done." Dark said suddenly, startling me.
"Um... Dark?" I sat up and looked at him, crossing my legs.
"He'll be fine. He's not in a coma." He reassured as he finished picking everything up.
"I'm so tired. Will you keep an eye on her?" I gestured towards Anna.
He looked at me. With a smile. "Ya." Dark grinned.
"Thanks." I said sleepily an laid my head down on Jack. Falling asleep immediately...

I held a toddler against my chest. She was maybe 3 years old.
"Daddy?" The child gurgled.
Before I could even speak, something came out of my mouth.
"Yes baby we're going to go see daddy."
We walked and walked until we came to a grave. It sat by itself in a big green field.
I set the toddler down and she waddled to the tombstone and plopped down right in front of it. I kneeled down behind her as her hands traced the letters.
Her little fingers slowly uncovered the name.
Sean William McLoughlin.

I jolted up with a start in my bed. Looking out of the window, the sky said it was maybe 2 am. Looking at my phone, it said 2:38. It's only been 4 hours.
I looked at the sleeping body next to me and saw Jack's face bathed in the moonlight. He looked so peaceful.
Everything was perfect. Everything. Until Jamie ruined it. I've got to sort this out.
Still in my clothes from earlier, I slipped on some shoes and my jacket, passing by a sleeping Dark on the couch with Anna sleeping on his chest.
I gently shut the door behind me and got in my car, starting it and driving away.
This is going to be a long night...
