10 minutes had passed since we'd entered the building. I was so scared for Anna.
She kept dry heaving on the towel I had put on my chest. I feel so bad for her, she's just a baby...
"McLoughlin." A nurse suddenly called out while I looked at my daughter on my chest. I jumped up with Mark in suit and we followed her to a room.
There, the 3 of us got a moment to relax.
"Sean." I looked up from Anna to Mark who was sitting next to me in a chair.
"Sean she's not gonna die, ok? You have really nothing to worry about."
"I-I know, but she's a baby. And my only child." I whined and cuddled my daughter closer to me.
The door was opened and we looked at the person who'd entered. The woman wore a white coat and a flowered dress to which her gray hair in a bun matched perfectly. I tried not to show my nervousness as she introduced herself as Samantha.
"Now you'll have to held her still while I look at her." Samantha took her temperature, looked in her ears, looked at her throat and listened to her heartbeat.
"Ok, now what seems to be the matter?" She asked as she sat on a stool in front of us.
"We were at court earlier today and took a break. She threw up what he fed her. And before that we noticed she has a really fast heartbeat, and irregular breathing, and she's burning up."
"Alright well it just seems that she's got a little virus. Make sure to only fed her half of what you do at feedings, and make sure to keep her warm. If she's too hot, then keep her legs warm. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do in the way of medicine so just keep an eye on her." Samantha smiled.
"Told ya." Mark poked my shoulder.
"Shut up, wouldn't you be worried out of your mind if your infant was sick?" I pouted back.
"I wouldn't know. I'm still getting used to her." He pointed towards Anna to which she answered with a cough.
"Alright guys, enjoy your day." Samantha giggled and left the room.
"Hey, Sean?" Mark asked.
"Ya?" I answered while still looking at Anna.
"What if... We... Had another baby?" He asked nervously.
"Why?" I looked at him like he was nuts.
"I don't know. It's like that feeling when a married couple decides to start a family."
"I understand. But Mark, it's so hard to take care of one. Be my guest if you wanna knock me up, but the next ones yours."
"Ugh nevermind. We'll wait." He sighed and stood.
We each walked together in silence to the car.
"Do you really want a baby? Like bad?" I sighed as I buckled me and Anna up. I know it's not safe but I don't want to leave her alone in the back. I'd sit back there, but I have to talk to Mark.
"Yes. That's why I asked you."
"Ok." I smiled as the car drove out of the parking lot.
"Wait really?!" Mark replied back in disbelief.
"Yes. But after Anna's recovered. Ok?"
"Ok." He smiled loudly.
When we got home, me and Anna sat on the couch after I changed her. She needed to go to sleep but I won't leave her alone. So that's why we were just chilling on the couch.
"Mark!" I called out.
"Ya?" He answered from our recording room.
"Can you fix me some food? I'm starving!"
"Can't you?" He asked, walking into the living room.
"No, I've got a baby on my chest." I gestured to us at which we were sitting with me leaned back and her on my chest.
"Ya. What do you want?" He sighed with a smile.
"I don't know. Chilli sounds good. I'm sure Anna's hungry too."
"Alright." Mark left the room and disappeared into the kitchen, exiting seconds later with a bottle in his hand. He handed it to me and leaned over the couch, kissing me.
Instead of being surprised, I reached up and rubbed his head soothingly. It was a little hard to kiss upside down though.
Anna started coughing roughly, startling me. Mark let me go to take care of her. I could only rub soothing circles on her back.
Mark got up and left, heading back to the kitchen. I picked up the bottle next me I had set down and tried to feed Anna. Tried. She didn't want it though and shied away.
"Baby come on, just a bit. For daddy?" I asked pathetically.
As if she answered, she wrapped her lips around the bottle with closed eyes and sucked lightly. It was only a few seconds later that she stopped and pushed it away again.
"It's ok baby girl. You tried."
I grabbed a big blanket next to me and curled Anna up in it and quickly ran into the kitchen to put the bottle away.
"You didn't feed her?" Mark stood in front of the stove with a boiling pot in front of him, spicing it up.
"She didn't want it. So I made her drink a little bit." I rushed back out of the kitchen and back into the living room. Anna was still on the couch, snoozing away.
I left her there and sat down next to her instead.
Not long later Mark brought me a bowl of chilli he made.
"Thank you baby." I stirred the mixture.
"No problem. How is she?"
"She hasn't thrown it up yet. Or coughed." I answered while glancing at her.
"Alright." He sighed. "I need to go record, I'll see ya later."
But he didn't because I curled up on the couch with Anna and fell asleep...
