Chapter 2

Work has been extremely busy lately. I'm getting so tired of it, tired of the routine. I love working with my best friend, but I'm honestly ready to move onto something bigger and more impactful to the world.

Other than the same old work stuff, it's been a week since my encounter with Harry, and I can't stop thinking about it. I told Olivia and she of course freaked out, wanting to know all of the details. Every little one. I wonder if this is what New York is going to continue to be like. Running into famous people left and right, spilling coffees, ruining expensive boots. I mean, Harry was the only famous person I've ran into, but whatever. It was worth it, to be honest, ruining my boots. Plus, no one needs to know if kept the shoes purely because it was Harry Styles that spilled coffee on them.

I have the later shift today, so I get to sleep in and go to work at 12. It's Friday (thank God). I throw on some jeans and a t-shirt as usual, and start walking. Once I get to work, I'm immediately bombarded with things to do. Just a normal, crazy day. It feels like I never catch a break. I think more about how I should quit and actually try to do something with my life, but I don't want to give up my job and be jobless. I have to find something else, first. Which doesn't seem like it should be too hard in such a big city, but it honestly is. I have to find not only a job I like, but one that pays well and is nearby.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do about that. The coupon expired 2 years ago," I speak into the phone, working the front desk. This is a restaurant, come on people. Is a $5 coupon really going to make that big of a difference?

Olivia looks at me and silently laughs, shaking her head at how ridiculous the customers we deal with can be.

4 eventually rolls around, and Liv and Jess walk in. Olivia wasn't working today, only stopped in to visit me, so it went kind of slow. It always goes a lot faster when I have her to talk to.

"Avery. We're going out tonight and you can't say no," Olivia says, while coming up to the counter.

"Well alright, thanks for the option," I laugh, and she shrugs, laughing along with me. Olivia's like this - the super girly girl who always wants to go out and party, finding boys and what not. I'm almost nothing like that, but she tries to convince me to go out anyway.

"For real though. We need to go out!" She exclaims, tugging on my arm. I sigh, laughing as I roll my eyes.

She's right. I almost never go out and do fun things, especially ever since Cole and I broke up. Olivia knows that. She knows everything about me. She's the best friend I've ever had, even though I've only known her for such a short period of time. Cole was my best friend, but I don't like to think about it too much.

"Alright, fine." I sigh, giving in. I need to get out of the house. All I ever do is read, work, exercise, and occasionally go to the movies or something like that with Liv and Jess. One night out shouldn't be too bad.

"YES!! I'll pick you up at 8, look hot. It's a fancy club," she says, showing a lot of excitement, since I normally just stay in. A fancy club, really? That means I actually have to dress up and look presentable, which means I have to wear a dress. I groan thinking about it, but know I'll actually have fun later on.

Her and Jess hug me, and then leave. I guess I'm going out tonight.

I go home and take a nap, being exhausted from work. When I wake up it's 6:30, so I make some dinner and start getting ready. Nothing like good 'old mac n cheese.

Once I'm done eating, I do my makeup and lightly curl my hair. I go for a more neutral look, not really trying to impress anybody. I just want to have a good time for myself, honestly. Once my makeup is done, I put on a cute dress, but nothing too revealing. Knowing Olivia, she'll probably want me to change into something 'hotter', but whatever. I think I look pretty good.

I continue to add to my makeup, perfecting everything until I'm satisfied. By the time I'm all finished, it's 7:50, and Olivia should be here soon.

I'm on my phone when I hear a knock on the door, and answer to see Olivia and Jess all dolled up. My friends are so pretty, what the hell. They both smile at me, looking as excited as ever.

I already know I'm probably going to have to drive their drunk asses home, unless they go home with guys. I honestly kind of hope they don't, because I'm really not trying to take a taxi home alone on a Friday night and look that pathetic. That's a new kind of low for me, but it'll probably happen.

"You ready??" Jess asks, looking at my outfit. I get the nod of approval, relief washing over me. At least I'm dressed appropriately. Thank God.

"Of course!!" I say over enthusiastically, and we go to the car, even though I really am not ready. We start driving and within 5 minutes, we hear sirens. The sweet sound of New York City.

It's gonna be a long night.

Sorry for the really short chapter, guys. I promise the next one will be like 3 times as long lol. Please vote and comment!! I really want to know what you guys think of the story! It'll pick up soon, I promise.
