Avery's POV
We pull up to a pier after 15 or so minutes of driving, and I smile to Harry. The place looks beautiful, especially since the sun is just about getting ready to set.
The pier he chose is definitely a fancier one in San Francisco, having restaurants and shops and arcades, stuff like that, as well as a big dock to walk on. I've never been here, but I've heard so much about it. My family and I would go out to eat during the summer to different piers, but this one is considered to be more high end.
"Have you been here before?" He asks me, squeezing my hand hand gently.
"Surprisingly, no, I haven't," I say, and he smiles, nodding. He looks happy that he chose a spot that's new to both of us, and I'm honestly the same way. Considering the fact that he's travelled the world time after time, and that I grew up here, it's both surprising and nice that we can experience a new place together for a special occasion.
I honestly can't wait to go inside the restaurant and see what's it's like. I'm also pretty fucking hungry, if I'm being honest. It sounds weird, but I'm always hungry after (sober) sex.
We both thank Anthony for driving us, and since it's such a popular location, he's going to be staying nearby in case Harry gets mobbed or followed or anything like that. It'll also be nice so we can drink and not worry about calling a cab or an Uber, or any of that business.
Harry opens up my car door for me, grabbing a hold of my hand. It's honestly really nice out as we step outside, being a bit chilly, but not unbearably so.
It's not until now that I realize Harry has a small gift bag with him, and I give him a look. He really didn't need to get me anything. I knew he would, but it absolutely was not necessary. He shoots me a smug face back, and I giggle. Sneaky bitch.
"Whaaat? I'm sneaky like that," he jokes, laughing. I laugh alongside him, shaking my head.
"Yes, you are. I'll give you that," I tell him, and he smiles, before we head into the restaurant.
He gives the hostess his name, and we are shortly after lead to a table by a big glass window that overlooks the dock and the sea. It's a dimly lit, very large room, probably the most elegant place I've ever been to.
"Your waiter will be with you shortly," the hostess smiles, handing us our menus. We thank her before she walks off.
"You really didn't need to do all of this, thank you," I sincerely say to him, and he smiles, his dimples popping out.
"Of course, baby, but there's no need to thank me. I wanted to," he says with a smile. My whole body fills with warmth as I realize just how lucky I am to have him. I never not feel lucky, but sometimes I'm just overcome with waves of joy that I have never experienced in a relationship. Not that I've had many, just H and Cole, but still.
We chat a bit about how pretty the restaurant is, before our waiter comes over.
"Good evening, my name is Kaden and I'll be taking care of you guys tonight," the young man says with a nervous smile, and I glance at Harry, both of us quick to figure out that Kaden is a little star struck.
"Can I start you two with something to drink?" He asks, and Harry clears his throat.
"That would be awesome, Av what would you like?" Harry asks me, looking down to the drink menu.
"I'm fine with whatever," I say, glancing at it myself.
"Okay, we'll have a bottle of pinot noir, if that's alright," Harry says, and Kaden nods.
