The two of us sat down at our usual table at the cafe, both ordering the same thing as we always did. A black coffee and an iced latte. But today was different, today marked the sixth month ever since Emily had weaved herself into my life. I felt significantly better than ever before. My therapy appointments were now once every 2 weeks and that was all thanks to Emily."E...Emily" I stuttered, feeling my cheeks turn red again. "Ya?" She said looking up from her phone. "I- I want to thank you...for everything you've done." I paused and took a deep breath before continuing. "I want to thank you for finding me in that hospital bed on that day and for sticking by me ever since then. I want to thank you for splattering dots of colorful colors onto my blank canvas. Your the perfect friend everyone would wish for...but sometimes....s-sometimes I wish we could be...more than that. Emily, I like you...alot. I'm genuinely happy when i'm around you and I want to be able to stay that way, with you."
I ended off my confession with my heart beating furiously inside my chest. My eyes watched her every move as she took in the information. Blood ran through my ears, almost drowning out all the background noise. Leaving only Emily in my field of view, available to my senses.
On that day, I made a new discovery. My heart was no longer simply just beating, they finally had emotions laced between each beat. Each new pump of blood sent a stream of adrenaline and an overwhelming feeling of happiness through my body.
On that day, I also made her mine.
