Vera's POV
I pull into the parking lot of the stadium, taking my phone out again. I can't stop looking at the picture Leah sent me of Colin, a look of complete embarrassment on his face while standing in our doorway in skintight leggings and an even tighter tank top. I had to force her to take the photo off her Instagram, but that doesn't mean I can't save it on my phone. I giggle as I put the phone back into my pocket and head out towards Rebecca's office.
"Vera!" a shrill voice calls out. It's Rebecca, carrying what looks like two very heavy boxes. I hurry over to her and grab one.
"What's all this?" I ask, my eyes wide at the boxes loaded with papers.
"Paper work and more paper work," she sighs. I grab the second box so she can scan her card to let us into the stadium.
"Okay, well I'm glad I could help," I smile at her. Rebecca goes on about her new boyfriend and how she would probably end it with him because he is a little too young. I laugh and remember how he could have passed for her son at the charity dinner. We make our way into the office and I set down the boxes onto the desk.
"Vera, please sort out these papers as I showed you to do previously. You can take any breaks-just as long as you get these done before 3," She holds her hands together pleadingly. I nod.
"Don't even worry about it, I'll finish waaaay before 3," I say confidently.

Two and a half hours go by and I finish up. I look at the stacks of paper around the desk and sit back in the comfy chair. At that same moment Rebecca comes through the door, bright eyed.
"Wanna come see a little bit of the practice? We've got some ESPN people here watching Colin," she smiles. My heart jumps at the sound of his name.
"Well....I'm..." I can't think of an excuse not to go with her.
"Grab your purse and let's go," she's heading out the door before I can come up with a solid excuse to stay.
I reluctantly grab my purse and we head out towards the central part of the stadium.
"Ugh, isn't it gorgeous?" Rebecca marvels at the expansiveness of the place. It's cavernous, beautiful, reminding me of the pictures of the Roman Coliseum I had to study in history class back in high school. Rebecca motions for me to continue following her as she jumps down the steps leading to the field.
"We're going on the field?" I ask. Rebecca turns to face me.
"Um yeah! We can't see anything from up here! Don't worry sweets, they know Becca," she winks at me with a sense of entitlement. As we head closer to the field I spot Colin. Everything suddenly moves in slow motion, and I'm walking through molasses. "Besides, don't you want to see Colin? I heard he's sweet on you," Rebecca smirks. I blush.
We hit the green and I am even more impressed with the stadium. The sun beats down on us, but even more on Colin, who is the center of attention. Cameras roll around him as he warms up, throwing the ball in a perfect spiral. He is so....beautiful in his element. I can't take my eyes away from him. At his fourth throw, he faces me, our eyes meet, and I feel my face burn with embarrassment. Way to inflate his ego Vera...I scold myself. His look of determination and focus is replaced by a smug smile. He raises an eyebrow. Lord it is illegal for one man to be so fine. I suddenly remember my drunken night, and want to run and hide. Ugh, how frickn' embarrassing. I think about how I had fallen off the platform at Ruby's and threw up all over his red jacket. He must think I'm a complete idiot.
