Vera's POV
I open the door to the office and sit down at my desk. Rebecca's had me help her build profiles for each player on the team website, as well as update the outdated site overall. I sit back in my chair, immediately thankful for the digitools courses I'd taken during undergrad.
"Vera?" There's a knock at the door and someone pushes it wide open. Becca prances into the room extending out a bouquet of flowers to me.
"For me?" I ask. She nods excitedly and sets the bouquet down on my desk. Grabbing the note attached to the flowers, I rip it open.
Even when the sky comes fallin
Even when the sun don't shine
I got faith in you and I
So put your pretty little hand in mine
-Colin
"Colin," I say quietly, holding the note close to my heart. Becca sits on my desktop, smiling.
"He likes you a lot V. More than like I'd say," she says. I tuck the note into my pocket and sit back down at my desk.
"I more than like him a lot too," I smile. There's no point in trying to hide it anymore. After trying to do so for a few weeks, Colin had made it obvious he didn't want to keep our relationship a secret. Becca raises her eyebrows at me with a smirk and hops off my desk, heading back out the door. I grab my phone from my purse to text Colin.
I got your flowers Mr. Romantic.
He replies immediately.
They reminded me of u baby girl.
I blush.
Why are you so perfect?
I don't expect him to reply because I know he has practice soon, but he does.
I'm not perfect. But if u think I am, u must be rubbing off on me.
I put my phone away trying to calm down my butterflies, ready to tackle the day.
Vera's POV
I pack my purse and clean around my work area, deciding to leave my bouquet of flowers on my desk. It brings life to an otherwise plain office. Pulling my purse over my shoulder I check my reflection on my iphone, making sure I have no stray hairs. I giggle at myself. Colin has me feeling giddy in the best way. Turning off the lights, I lock the door behind me. Colin should be meeting me at my car at any second.
I push through the doors of the complex and head outside, before I'm stopped. In front of me is a brunette, about my height, with dark brown skin and beautiful angular features. She looks me up and down, her eyes wide.
"Can I help you?" I ask politely. She places a hand on her hip, as if trying to find something to say.
"So you're her," she says quietly, biting her bottom lip in contemplation.
"Excuse me?" I ask. She scoffs and walks quickly away from me, completely ignoring my question.
I stand bewildered. She must have me confused with someone else. Shrugging, I pace towards the car. Getting into the driver's seat I check my phone, wondering who in the world that woman could be.
"Baby girl?" Colin knocks on the window of the passenger side and I unlock the doors, excited to see him. He jumps in, hunching over because of his height. I laugh at him as he leans over to cover me, kissing me all over my face then my neck.
"What are you doing!" I laugh, looking around to see if anyone else is watching. Colin bites my bottom lip, holding me against him.
"I want you, right here, right now" he whispers into my ear, pulling my earlobe in between his teeth. I squeeze my legs together to try and fight the desire that overwhelms me, but I can't. I giggle as he pulls me over him in the passenger seat, and the windows begin to fog up. All thoughts of the woman I encountered disappearing with every kiss.
