Both me and Josh reached Jane’s house just in time for dinner, I let Josh beat me and he was ecstatic about it through out the whole dinner. He kept bragging how he was getting stronger than me and sooner would be one taking care of me; I rolled m eyes at that. The dinner itself wasn’t too bad Jane was not the best of cooks but even I could tell that she was trying, while Harry was the opposite, he would take every opportunity to tell me that I needed to give them money for helping Josh. Every time he would say that I wanted to rip his throat out. Why did he have to say that in front of Josh, it wasn’t until after dinner that I was able to corner Harry and have a word with him.
“Listen up Harry you’ll get you’re money soon enough but keep that huge mouth of yours shut in front of Josh, do that and I’ll raise it by a fifty dollars” I grunted keeping my voice as low as possible as we stood on the back foyer.
“Make it a seventy and you’ve got yourself a deal” he smirked, I knew that face what it meant
“You’re gambling again aren’t you” I snarled, “Just remember one thing; if you lay a finger on my brother or try to do any of your little tricks with him and I will make sure that you will regret it” I threatened
“As if you could hurt me” he spoke confidently
“Just try me, remember what happened last time”, the look on his face was enough to confirm that surly he did. “Try to keep that in mind” I told him and went back inside the house. Soon enough it was time for me to leave and once again bid farewell to my light which was my brother.
“I’m gonna miss you Mia” Josh spoke softly
“Me too little man, but don’t worry I’ll visit soon and you’re going to be thirteen soon aren’t you. So we’ve got a birthday to celebrate”
“So does that mean you’ll come ” he asked hopefully
“Of course I will, I wouldn’t miss it for the world” I smiled warmly and gave him a hug. I pulled him a little closer and slipped a couple of bucks in his shirt’s pocket.
“Keep this with you Josh and don’t let Harry see it, think of it as an early present so use it for whatever you want alright” I whispered
“Okay” he replied, and we pulled apart. I thanked Jane for the dinner and gave harry a curt nod before tuning around and walking away.
Just as I was about to turn the corner I heard Josh’s voice shouting
“I love you Mia!” he shouted, a huge grin erupted on my face when I heard that. I love you too I thought as I continued walking on.
I was shocked to find out that it was almost midnight, I could have gone to my dorm room with Emma but the walk was too long and besides I had to check whether the boys had locked the auto shop properly or not. Trent had already a lot to deal with, it wouldn’t help if his shop got robbed too, and he had trusted me with the responsibility to look after it so I couldn’t let him down like that. Therefore grudgingly I walked towards ‘Miller’s Fix and Find’. Luckily the shop wasn’t too far away from where I was now so in about forty minutes I was able to reach there.
The workshop was dark but a stream of light could be seen coming out of from one of the windows. ‘Oh lord they can’t even remember to turn the lights off, I just hope that they didn’t forget to look the door.’ When I tried the lock to the back door it opened without hesitation causing me to groan. ‘Stinking toadstools they can’t do anything right can they’ I thought as I walked inside.
I went straight to the light so I could turn it off and head to the manger’s office, while muttering obscenities I reached for the light switch but my ears caught up on the sound of groaning of metal. ‘What the heck is that?’ I questioned as I walked towards the sound, to be on the safe side I grabbed a large wrench. ‘It better not be a burglar or else I’m going to murder those fools’. Surprisingly the sound seemed to be coming from underneath a car.
