"what the hell are these?" arielle hissed, i heard the sound of plastic crinkling.

i rubbed my eyes, and sat up in my bed. it took me a second to make out who the figures were, but i recognized them as arielle and ethan.

"get out of my room, dumbasses," i groaned, and turned away from them.

when they didn't get out of my room, i decided to turn on the light. that honestly didn't make matters any better, it just momentarily blinded everyone. "my bad," i mumbled. "since you guys aren't leaving anytime soon, would you like to fill me in?"

arielle glared at me, and held up a rose bouquet. "i caught my boyfriend trying to bring you flowers." she tossed the flowers at me, and i hid under my covers.

i kept my blankets over my head, and groaned. "your boyfriend... ethan? when did this happen?"

somebody decided to take a seat on the edge of my bed, i assumed that it was ethan. "that's the problem, camila. it NEVER happened."

arielle made a scoffing noise. "we've had a thing for the past few months, ethan. you said that we'd talk more about it when you guys came back." she paused, and sat next to him.

i threw my covers off, and whined. "you guys are crushing my feet, jesus. should i leave?"

ethan said no, arielle said yes.

"whatever, stay if you want," arielle tossed her hair over her shoulder, and crossed her arms. "i just don't get what's changed."

ethan sighed, and took arielle's hand. "can i be honest with you?"

i took that a sign to leave. "um, thank you for the flowers... you can keep them, i'm gonna go downstairs. bye guys, hope everything works out!" i kicked off my covers, and slowly made my way out of the bed.

before i could make my way down the stairs, i heard a loud noise. "you ASSHOLE, were you just staring at my stepsister's ass?"

i groaned silently, and took a seat on the top of the staircase.

good job, ethan.

"mila, are you listening to me?" cece snapped her fingers in my face, which made me jump.

jacob threw his arm around cecelia, and kissed her cheek. "she's tired, cee. ethan and arielle barged into her room at like... five in the morning?"

i yawned softly, and nodded. "yeah, way too early." i looked around, and noticed that we were missing a few people at our table. "what happened to grayson and ethan?"

jacob looked at his phone, and started scrolling on his screen. "grayson said that he had to study for a test or something, so he's in the library." he furrowed his brows, and placed his phone down. "i think that arielle forced ethan to go somewhere with her, they didn't come to school today."

i zipped up my backpack, and picked it up. "thanks, jake. i'll meet you guys a little later, okay?"

i waved at holland and gemma, but they were too busy making out to notice me.

as usual.

the library wasn't too far away from where we sat, so the journey was pretty easy. the hard part would be finding gray, since the library was so big.

i hadn't been in the library since tenth grade, and i was a senior now. walking through the aisles of books brought back strange, but good memories.

"mimi?"

i squinted, and looked around. i couldn't remember the last time that somebody had called me 'mimi'.

grayson was sitting on the floor, surrounded by a few open books. i couldn't help but smile, the boy was effortlessly adorable.

"hey, i was looking for you." i made my way over to him, and watched as he moved some of the books to the side.

his face immediately lit up. "really?" he patted the spot next to him, and i took a seat.

i nodded, and rubbed my eyes. "yeah. i love our group, but they're too high energy for me today." it was the truth, the last of my energy had been sucked out of my body when cece started telling a long string of endless stories. "also, i just wanted to hang out with you."

he sighed, and idly flipped the pages in one of his books. "you don't have to do this, mimi."

do what?

i folded my arms. "what are you talking about, grayson?"

grayson rubbed his eyes a few times, then widened them. "sorry, my contacts are bothering me. anyways, i was just saying that you don't have to take time out of your day to–"

"listen, i said that i wanted to hang out with you. i wouldn't be here if i didn't enjoy your company," i sighed deeply, and made eye contact with him. "i'm probably overstepping my boundaries, i'm sorry. i could go if you want?"

his eyes widened. "oh, no. i- i don't want you to leave." he closed his books, and looked at his feet. "i was um, wondering if you would want to hang out this week... if you wanted to?"

i raised my brows. "grayson dolan, are you asking me on a date?"

he looked at me, and played with the bottom of his long sleeved shirt. the powdery blue color made him look so soft, and pure. "um, yes? you can definitely say no if you–"

"of course i'll go. ask jacob for my number, okay? i'll see you after school."
