A Blessed Curse

Chapter 5

The bright light coming from the soul resonance destroys the kishin completely and even though the boy wasn't far from it he doesn't get hurt, since Lune didn't want to hurt the boy. Lune takes a deep breath and lowers the Keyblade.

{I'm going to stretch my legs.} Soleil announces before transforming back to her human form. She pops her joints.

"Okay, who's turn is it to eat the soul?" Lune asks "Yours right?"

Soleil takes a small light grey notebook from her pocket "Correct." She writes it down and then walks towards the kishin soul. She takes it her hands and grins "One way ticket to my stomach, rotten kishin egg." She eats the soul.

Lune kneels down in front of the trembling boy "Are you okay?"

The small boy hestitates but then nods.

Lune smiles "My name's Lune, and that is my sister, Soleil." She gestures towards Soleil "We're students at the DWMA, have you heard of the school?"

The boy nods again, this time a lot more certain "I'm Aiden."

"That's a nice name. Shall my sister and I take you back home, Aiden?"

"Okay!"

Lune takes the boy's hand "Lead the way."

Aiden starts walking a direction, probably towards his home. Soleil smiles and follows them. She leaves this to Lune. Lune's always been very good with children because of her friendly and understanding personality. She might be lazy but she's very sweet. Soleil is the exact opposite, hard-working but more apathetic and indifferent. Their Yin-Yang necklaces truly suit their personality.

After walking Aiden stops in front of a house "I live here."

Lune nods "Okay, let's knock on the door then. I'm sure your parents are worried about you."

"You're right." Aiden knocks on the door.

A woman the looks like she's in her late thirties opens the door. She looks surprised but then smiles and hugs Aiden "Aiden, sweetie, where have you been? Your dad and I were so worried about you."

"A monster attacked me but they saved me. I was so scared, mommy." Aiden starts sobbing.

"It's okay. You're safe now." She looks up at the Argent twins "Thank you for saving my son."

"It's no problem. We're glad he's safe." Soleil responds. Lune, being shy again, stands behind Soleil and nods. Soleil grins and gestures towards Lune "My sister here deserves the credit though. She was the one who kept Aiden calm."

"It was nothing." Lune blushes and takes a sudden interest in the ground.

"Thank you. Both of you." Aiden's mother tells them.

"Anytime. I suggest you take Aiden to bed now, ma'am. I'm pretty sure he's tired after those events." Soleil says with a small smile.

Aiden's mother nods and goes inside, closing the door behind her.

Soleil turns to Lune "Any other kishins we should get rid of?"

Lune closes her eyes and focuses. After a minute she opens them again "Nope. Let's go home so I can sleep."

"You can transform. I'll take us home." Soleil suggests.

"That sounds good. Thanks."

"Anytime."

Lune transforms into Oblivion. Soleil catches her in her right hand and starts running.

"Home sweet home." Soleil goes inside and gently lays Lune's weapon form on her bed "I'm going to brush my teeth first. Good night, ma petite soeur."

Lune transforms back and takes off her boots "Good night, jumelle."

Soleil goes to the bedroom and brushes her teeth. She splashes some water in her face and looks at her covered eye. After heaving a sigh she lets her hair loose and brushes it. Before she goes to her own room she checks on Lune again.

Lune got dressed in pyjamas but she forgot to go to her bed. She's lying on her floor, using her arms as a pillow. Soleil snickers before picking Lune up and putting her in bed, under the covers.

Then the white-haired girl goes to her own room. She changes into a comfy black tanktop and grey shorts, her eyepatch still hiding her right eye. She lays down in her bed and it doesn't take long until she falls asleep.

The next day Soleil has to keep Lune awake during classes or the younger twin would've fallen asleep as soon as she sat down.

"What's up with Lune?" Maka asks.

Soleil chuckles "She's not used to waking up in the middle of the night to kill a kishin."

Maka giggles "I can't blame her. The first time is always the worst. By the way, how did it go?"

"I could add a new kishin soul to my collection so it went well."

Soul groans, being stuck between two girls who are talking "Keep quiet. I'm trying to sleep."

"You didn't even have to wake up in the middle of the night so you don't have an excuse." Maka points out.

"Sleeping is always good, whether you're tired or not." Lune mutters, chin leaning on her hands.

Soleil faceplants on her desk "Ugh, you're so lazy."

"I'm not lazy. I'm just great at saving energy."

"That's called lazy, Lune."

Soleil is walking to her locker when she runs into Liz.

"Hey." The white-haired girl greets.

"Hey, Soleil. Maka told me your first mission went well." Liz responds.

Soleil nods "Yeah, but now Lune has an excuse to be lazy. She had to get up in the middle of the night."

"Can't blame her. Waking up isn't the most pleasant thing to do."

Patty comes running towards the two "Sis, Kid says we're going on a mission!"

"As long as it isn't something with ghosts." Liz mutters.

Patty notices Soleil now "Oh, hey, Soleil!"

Soleil grins "Hey, Patty." She tucks her hands in her pockets "If you're going on a mission then I'll be on my way home."

"Hmm." Liz seems to think a bit "It wouldn't hurt to have some back-up. Right, Patty?"

Patty shrugs "Kid didn't say anything about asking Soleil to come with us."

"I'd like to come with you but with Lune being tired, and lazy, I don't think that's a good idea. Maybe some other time?" Soleil tells her.

"Okay, sounds good. How about you come over some time? I'd like to get to know you and your sister better." Liz suggests.

"Fine by me. I'd have to discuss it with Lune first though."

"Alright, we'll talk about it later. Bye, Soleil."

"Goodbye!" Patty says, then the Thompson sisters walk away to go on their mission.

Soleil smiles and heaves a sigh. Then she starts heading home, knowing Lune will probably take a nap.
