A Blessed Curse

Chapter 12

On their way back Soleil makes sure to clean up the blood that came from Lune's left eye so they won't get any questions about that. The bleeding stopped some time ago so that's a concern less.

Soleil heaves a sigh in relief. If the bleeding from the eye stops that means Lune will wake up soon. However, the burn mark from the grey flames is a different story. That's something a nurse has to look at, Soleil isn't a doctor after all.

She's walking the stairs of the DWMA, still carrying Lune on her back. Soleil might be the one who's physically stronger but that doesn't mean she isn't tired after carrying her sister.

"Soleil, you're back!" Patty calls out when she notices Soleil's silhouette.

Liz smiles and walks closer to the stairs, however that smile disappears when she notices how Soleil looks completely exhausted and carrying an unconscious Lune on her back "Hey, what happened?"

Soleil reaches the top of the stairs and Liz takes Lune from her back. Between her heavy breaths she mutters "Don't worry. She's going to be alright."

Liz notices that Soleil doesn't sound like someone who's desperately hoping for someone important to them to be okay, she sounds like someone who's 100% sure it'll be alright, even if it doesn't seem like it.

"Are you okay?" Kid asks.

Soleil nods weakly "I'm fine. Lune's right arm got burned, that needs some work and she'll be exhausted once she wakes up. Other than that... she's... okay... too..." Then the white-haired girl sinks to her knees and loses consciousness from the exhaustion.

Kid manages to catch Soleil before she hits the ground "Let's take them to the infirmary."

Liz nods in agreement. She and Patty carry Lune between them while Kid carries Soleil.

Soleil slowly wakes up. She blinks, her vision is still blurry. Once she sees everything sharp again she notices that she's in a white bed, surrounded by those white curtains. She recognizes it right away, she's in the infirmary.

She looks to her right and notices that Lune is lying in the bed next to her. Her arm is now wrapped in bandages and she looks like she's sleeping peacefully.

It takes some effort but Soleil manages to sit up without fainting again. She isn't even dizzy anymore. She swings her legs over the edge of the bed and is about to stand up when the nurse arrives.

"Oh, you're awake." Medusa says "That's good. I suppose the sleep helped a lot. Your sister is doing well too. She probably won't be able to use her arm for a little while but she'll be okay. She's asleep now."

Soleil nods "Can I leave now? I still have to tell Lord Death about my mission."

"Are you sure about that? You just woke up after all. It wouldn't be wise to walk around already."

"I'm fine. It was just exhaustion. I'm not injured." Soleil states and stands up.

After Medusa checked Soleil's vital signs she decides that the girl is perfectly fine "It seems your doing well. If you want to you can leave now. I'll let you know when your sister wakes up."

"Thank you." Soleil mutters. Then she walks to Lune and whispers "I'll be back soon. See ya, ma petite soeur." Then she leaves.

Fortunately, Soleil doesn't run into any other students on her way to the Death Room. They probably wouldn't be very happy with the fact that she's already walking around as if nothing happened.

Lune groans while she slowly regains consciousness. Fortunately she didn't use her special wavelength too much or she'd be knocked out cold for at least a week.

"Hey, Lune, are you awake?" A familiar voice asks.

Lune opens her eyes and sees Liz, Patty is standing at the window and being amazed by the sky "Yes... I'm awake."

Liz smiles "Good. You had us worried sick. It didn't really help that Soleil collapsed from exhaustion."

"Soleil exhausted? Man, that fight must've taken its toll on her." Lune mutters. She tries to move her right arm but a wave of pain flashes through her body when she does. She grits her teeth and decides to hold still for now. Stupid Noroi "Where is she now?"

Liz shrugs "I don't know. Lady Medusa said she left a few minutes before we arrived. Kid is looking for her now, saying that she shouldn't be walking around after being unconscious for a couple of hours."

"Don't worry about that. I'm sure that only an hour or less she was actually knocked out and the other time she was just sleeping."

"Maybe. I'm not going to get him though. It's very satisfying to see him being worried about Soleil."

Lune snickers "Yeah, you're right about that." Then she closes her eyes and goes back to sleep.

"Ah, I see your already walking around?" Lord Death asks in his silly voice.

Soleil nods "Yes. Let's get to the point, the source of the energy was a Noroi."

"A Noroi?" Lord Death questions her.

"It's a Cursed Weapon that surrendered to madness. This time it was Fatal Crest."

"I see. Soleil, you and Lune are Cursed Weapons too, aren't you?"

Soleil looks at her feet when she mutters "We are." She looks up "Please, don't tell anyone. Most people don't like Cursed Weapons."

Lord Death pretends to lock his mask with a key "Your secret is safe with me."

Soleil chuckles at the silly gesture and then smiles "Thank you, Lord Death."
