"have you ever thought about running away?" jaebum asked in the middle of the night.
subin flipped over to look at him from across the room, "from here? not really. it's pretty much impossible, since they have all my information. i don't exist outside of here."
"i didn't mean to run away permanently. i guess i should have asked if you've ever thought about sneaking out. just for a day, to see the outside world," jaebum corrected himself.
it had been almost a week since his outbreak, and jaebum had been doing everything to make up for his actions. he helps jinyoung clean, sneaks bambam food, plays cards with mark. he's basically doing everything that subin does, since everyone likes her.
the doctors have even commented on his change in such a short period of time. he's less agitated when he comes into see them, and it takes more stimuli to set him off. they can't pinpoint the exact factor that triggered the sudden change, but signs point toward subin.
jaebum follows her around like a curious puppy. he wants to be nice and help people, just like subin. he wants to get better for subin. everything he does is for subin, really.
he just doesn't know it yet.
"not really," subin answered. "the professionals here kind of brainwashed me into thinking that the moment i step outside, i'll like break my arm and not know it."
jaebum rested on his elbow as he propped himself up. "maybe you need a chaperone."
subin put her arm under her head, "yeah? who would be gracious enough to lend me their time for a day out on the town."
"maybe a guy that complements you perfectly," jaebum teased. "a guy that can feel things that you can't. maybe even more things."
"where oh where would i be able to find a guy that hypersensitive to everything?" subin quipped.
in a flash, jaebum moved from his bed to subin's, straddling her hips. "i don't know. it might be a little hard. it's not like you live in a rehab facility, or anything."
subin put her hands over her face, "oh my god, you're on top of me."
jaebum couldn't help the laugh that escaped his lips as subin's giggles became audible to him. he grabbed her wrists, trying to pry them away from her face, but she was stronger than jaebum expected.
"show me your face, god damn it," he laughed as subin squirmed around her. she actually felt her face heat up.
"no, i'm blushing and there's probably a vein popping out in my forehead," subin squealed as she continued to wriggle under jaebum.
he leaned down until his lips were even with subin's ear, "if you don't stop moving, i won't be able to control myself."
subin slowly moved her hands away from her face as she understood the tone that jaebum was using. his voice was low and velvety, almost hoarse. she gulped as she made eye contact with his dark eyes.
"yeah, i'll stop."
jaebum smiled at the girl underneath of him. he gave her a quick peck on the nose before he climbed onto his bed. he waited until subin's soft snores filled the room until he even tried to go to sleep, but he still couldn't manage it.
his mind was filled with thoughts and images of subin, wondering how in the world he managed to get caught up in a girl like her and how he managed to fall in love with a girl that was so opposite of him.
