"oh my god," subin moaned aloud. the bowl of noodles in front of her tasted better than any she had ever had before. she knew the cafeteria food was shit, but she didn't know it was this shit.

jaebum looked around the restaurant with a red face, trying to make a show of having his hands on the table and that he wasn't doing anything to subin.

"are you enjoying the food there, subin?" jaebum awkwardly chuckled.

"a little too much, probably," subin said around a mouthful of food. she took a sip of her coke, and she couldn't believe she had been missing out on soda too. bambam would love coke. mark would love these noodles. "can we bring some of this food back?"

"why? do you want to eat it again later?" jaebum asked, waving over a waitress to get a to-go box.

subin shook her head, "i want everyone to experience real food. even if they can't be here."

jaebum smiled fondly at the girl in front of him. she couldn't be real. there was no way that she was so gorgeous but still so down to earth while still being sane from being in rehab for more than ten years. he was so lost in thoughts of subin that he forgot the waitress standing next to him.

"can i help you, sir?" she asked, thankfully taking away her googly eyes when she realized subin and jaebum were a thing. neither subin nor jaebum knew what exactly they were, but they were definitely a thing.

jaebum asked for a to-go box as subin finished eating. she had quite a bit of noodles left, since the portions were so large, but that was more for her friends back in rehab.

jaebum paid for the meal with the money the specialist gave him and the two left the little noodle shop.

"where to now?" jaebum asked. "ice cream?"

subin made a face, "not if you want to see it coming out the way it came."

"alright, no ice cream. there's this place i want to show you, if you're down to walk off all the food you just ate. then maybe you'll have room for ice cream when we make our way back. deal?" jaebum put one of his thumbs up.

subin smiled, grabbing his hand and interlocking their fingers. jaebum's ears went red. "deal. show me around, mr. tour guide."

jaebum really hoped that subin couldn't feel how sweaty his palms were. he hoped she couldn't feel his fast pulse in his hand. he hoped that she couldn't tell just how much she affected him.

the sidewalks were crowded as most workers were on their lunch break. elbow roomed seemed to disappear rapidly by the second. subin was squished up against jaebum's side, as she refused to walk anywhere other than right next to him.

jaebum was slowly starting to freak out. his shoulders would barely brush up against a stranger's as he walked past, and he could feel his blood pressure rise. the person walking behind him was incredibly close and he could feel their breath on his neck. he could feel the body heat radiating off of everyone; the only thing that made him feel sane was subin who was using both of her hands to hold onto one of his.

"are you okay?" subin asked, taking note of how fidgety and unstable he had become after a couple of blocks.

"yeah," jaebum said with a shaky voice. "i'm fine."

subin stared hard up at jaebum. she knew he was lying, and while she wanted to hear him admit it, she knew he wouldn't.

"no, you're not," subin said before she veered off to the right. there was an alley in between a convenience store and a market.

subin took a good look at jaebum; there was panic in his eyes, sweat dripping down his neck, and his breathing wasn't steady. subin grabbed his face in her hands and made him look at her.

"jaebum, focus on me, okay?"

he nodded, but his eyes kept flickering toward the flowing crowd of people.

"tell me a story."

"what?"

"tell me a story, jaebum."

"once upon a time," he started, squeezing his eyes shut so he wouldn't be tempted to look out of the alley, "there was a girl. she was perfect in every way. there was also a boy. he was imperfect in every way. the boy thought that there was no way in hell that he'd ever get a chance to talk to the girl. they were chosen to room together."

"this sounds familiar, jaebum," subin teased, moving her hands from his face to his biceps.

"shush, let me finish," he put a finger up to her lips before he continued. "the boy was chasing after the girl, and he thought he had her wrapped around his finger. he thought she was falling for him. but, instead, he slowly got more and more wrapped up in the girl, and soon she was all he could think about. by just being herself, she had the boy completely whipped for her. she still doesn't know, and the boy is scared of his feelings. the end."

subin cocked her head to the side, "is there something you want to tell me?"

"not here," jaebum said, grabbing subin's hand and dragging her behind him. "the place i want to go to is a block away. i need to tell you there."
