Using Discriminatory Words As A Joke

"HEY FAGGOT! Just kidding."

.... What the hell?
PLEASE, for the love of God, tell me you did not just use that word as a joke thinking that it wouldn't affect me. I understand that some people are jokesters and some gay people might even laugh along, but there are also people out there who don't find it funny.

AT ALL.

And you don't know who those people are. Some can be upfront with how they feel about it, others can lowkey be hurting. Saying it in general, EVEN IF YOU DO NOT MEAN ANYTHING NEGATIVE BY IT, is offensive to gay people all around the world.

It's like somebody saying:
"HEY MY LITTLE ANOREXIC FRIEND!"
To somebody who is skinny.

It's like somebody saying:
"HEY YOU OVERWEIGHT PIG!"
To somebody who is fat.

Would YOU want people to joke about you and your body? Your personality? Sexuality? Religion?

Um, I don't think so.
So keep in mind, I am not trying to be rude when I say this. I am just trying to educate you and help you understand how these hurtful words can affect people. They do!

So before you decide to open your mouth and call your gay friend a "Faggot" or any other discriminatory word like that, take notes. Try to keep your mouth shut, I mean all we are asking for is respect!
