Two days passed, Zayn was getting and feeling better than ever that he's allowed to go home. The drive was silent. He took a nap while his mum's driving.

Trisha hadn't say a word about Liam. Even until now she's still debating with herself on how to explain it all to her son. She bit her lip once she remembered about the plan she and Liam made. Now that Liam is probably preparing the surprise, Trisha was nervous to the hill. She was afraid if their plan wouldn't work, or resulting badly. She's afraid of how Zayn would react by Liam's appearance.

What if he wouldn't accept his husband? What if he was acting cold to Liam? She quickly shook her thoughts off, knowing better of her son.

She parked the car, then shaking her son lightly. "Zayn, sweetheart, we're home." She whispered. Zayn blinked his eyes open and sat up straight. Trisha helped him out of the car, holding him so that he can walk. When they both stepped in, Zayn let out a small gasp seeing their living room was full of ballons floating on the ceiling. Trisha sent him a motherly smile, "happy birthday, sunshine."

"My birthday? Mum I didn't even remember it!" He pulled his mother into a tight hug, "thank you." He whispered, kissing her cheek.

She pulled away slowly, stroking her son's cheek. She noticed the twinkles in his eyes and that wide, happy smile where he had his tongue pressed to his teeth. He had never been this happy before.. Not after the accident. And that thought hurts her, what if by seeing Liam right now could confuse him and turn down his happiness?

There were photographs attached to the balloons, Zayn took his time to check them out one by one and he frowned at the picture he was holding. "Liam?.."

It was a picture of both of them smiling fondly at each other, with a birthday cake placed in front of them. Liam's birthday two years ago. And still Zayn can't remember that day.

"I'm right here." Liam walked in, surprised both of Zayn and Trisha. He sent him a warm smile and kept his hands behind his back.

Zayn's eyes widen as Liam approached him. He then got on his knees and handed his husband a bouquet of flowers–white roses. Zayn's favorite flower and also means apology. "Happy birthday, baby." Zayn's hands were shaking when he took the bouquet. Liam stood up and frowned at his husband's face. "Baby.."

"W-why do you come back?"

Liam's heart clenched at that. He opened his mouth to speak, "I-"

"Why are you here? Why do you come back after all? W-what are you doing to m-me?" Zayn started to sob, clenching the bouquet in his hands. "I want to forget about you, you were never real, right? Then what are you doing here.."

Trisha stood there silently, watching the two tensed because of the situation. She's not sure of what to do or what to say. There was no one to blame between them.

Liam took one of Zayn's hand to place it on his chest. "Zayn, listen. This is me, Liam. This me is real. Trisha told me every-" Zayn pulled his hand, looking at his mother disbelievely. "You what?.." Trisha just sent him a sad look, she felt sorry for the couple.

Zayn shook his head and dropped the bouquet to the floor as he ran to his room. Sure, his body was still in pain. But he couldn't either just stand there and acted like he is okay. He just recovered the truth that all this time Liam was never real, that his husband was probably already gone at the airplane accident. But then today, he showed up again like nothing happened. It seemed like he couldn't trust anything anymore.

Trisha pulled her son in law into a tight hug, "he'll be okay. Everything will be just fine.. Thank you for doing much for him." Liam could only nod his head at that, he wanted to cry too right there, but he should be strong. For his husband. "I'll do everything I can." He told her quietly. She was the first to pull away, smiling sadly at him. "I'll give you two some time alone.. Since you've came back and Zayn won't be alone anymore. I'll just pack my stuff and drive home."

Liam nodded once again, dropping himself to the couch. He hung his head low, thinking on what should he do for his damaged husband. He grabbed the bouquet off the floor and stared at the flowers.

Zayn probably didn't remember what were white roses meant to him, he thought.
