I HAVE NEVER HAD a good life. My family was poor, so we were never able have "nice things". For a while, we lived peacefully on a ranch near the mountains, with absolutely no worries at all. Things seemed to be going well at the time. That is, until my father started to get sick. At first, we thought it was a small fever. Then, it started to get worse and my younger brother caught onto the disease a few days later. Both my father and my brother passed away within the next month. It was hard on all of us, but it impacted my mother the worst. She started drinking, causing her to scream at me and abuse me, telling me that their deaths were my fault. After two dreadful years of mourning, my mother passed away from an alcohol overdose and I was now an orphan. Since I had surviving family, I was sent to live with my aunt and her family. So, I traveled into the small town of Avonlea, Canada, where I would begin my new life, and never tell anyone about my old one.

AUTHORS NOTE
Gilbert Blythe is such an amazing character and once I saw that there weren't many stories about him, I decided to write one myself. I'm not sure if this will flop or not but we will have to see!
