It was early in the morning, and few people were up, it was one of the best times to go out and get food and water. It was also the worst time because Sol was still a little pup and liked to chase things, and many things were up at the crack of dawn, like birds, butterflies, rodents, and other animals. Sol stopped chasing the butterfly after noticing a dead animal in the middle of the road. She started sniffing it, it smelled great, like decaying flesh. Ollie saw Sol in the middle of the road, and she also saw a car leave a nearby driveway. The red pickup truck started to pick up speed, and headed right for Sol. Ollie shook her head, this was a daily event for her. She ran over to Sol, and picked her up, she tossed her to the side of the road, as the pickup was too close. Sol landed on her paws, and watched as Ollie just about dodged the wheels of the truck. She was laying on the road, and had managed to stay between to wheels and not get hit. The truck stopped and a man got out, he saw her laying on the road, and called animal control. Sol ran over to Ollie, and started licking her face. Ollie growled and pushed her aside. It was because of Sol she has had many near death experiences in the past month. More than once a day, Sol ran into traffic and nearly gets Ollie killed, she herself never seems to be in any harm as every truck and car stays clear of her, but they know what Ollie is capable of, so they try to end her every chance they get. Ollie heard the man taking, she looked at him, he was on the phone. She could hear him mention her, she knew it was animal control. She got to her feet, and looked for Sol, she had run off again. She heard the man start yelling and asking if he could shoot her. She looked his way, and saw Sol jump into the truck. She knew this pup was the death of her, but she didn’t know how long that death would take. Once again, Sol was getting her into a deadly situation, and at times like this, Ollie wondered why she took the pup with her. The man noticed the dog in his truck, and picked her up. Sol was wagging her tail, and started licking him. He laughed, and told animal control to hurry, that he didn’t want her to kill the puppy. Sol was almost three months old, and was very friendly towards people. It was clear Ollie hasn’t made much progress with Sol and her behavior. Ollie had to think of a way to get Sol back without getting herself killed. The man got back into his truck, still holding Sol. Ollie started barking, she ran over to door and tried to bite the man. He reached for the door, she noticed and turned away. He slammed the door, catching her tail in the door. She yelped, and knew that she had no chance in getting away now. She blew it, she knew shouldn’t have saved that pup. Sol looked at the door, she could hear Ollie whining, and she knew something was wrong. She looked out the windshield, and she saw a truck coming toward them. It was animal control, they were here for Ollie. She could hear Ollie barking and growling now, trying to keep them away from her.

“We won’t have any trouble catching her this time.” One man said.

Sol looked at the door, that window was open at the top. She jumped at the window, and climbed out. She looked at Ollie and tried to figure out why she wouldn’t just run away. The men were trying to catch her, but she kept moving her head so they couldn’t get anything around her neck. Sol got closer to her, and Ollie didn’t notice. She was busy trying to stay out of reach. The men got closer and they tried to grab her with their bare hands. She bit them, but they kept trying. She accidentally bit Sol, and the men backed off. Sol yelped, and Ollie backed up against the pickup. The man in the pickup opened the door, unknowingly freeing Ollie. Ollie turned around and bit the guy in the pickup, and ran away. Sol noticed that Ollie left her, and ran after her. Animal control tried to catch Sol, but she was too small and quick for them.

“I thought you said we won’t have any trouble catching her.” One of the other men said.

She went back to their hiding spot, Ollie wasn’t there. She began to think she had been abandoned, but she knew Ollie wouldn’t do that to her, Ollie loved her, and she made that pretty clear when she rescued Sol when she was little. Ollie was only eight months old, and Sol was two and a half months. Both were pretty young, yet only one was intelligent enough to survive on the streets, Sol is not intelligent enough to do anything, she can’t even chase butterflies right. She always ends up in the middle of a road far away from where she started chasing a butterfly, or anything for that matter. Sol sat and waited for Ollie to return.
