"Ollie, I'm so sorry." Sol said.
"Well you know what, I'm not going to take that, you hurt me, saying you're sorry is not going to work, because it's just a word and means nothing to me." Ollie said.
"Ollie, what's wrong with you?" Sol asked.
Ollie shook her head. "I don't know."
Ollie seemed scared, and she wouldn't look Sol in the eye.
"You do know." Sol said. "Don't you?"
"Yes, no, I don't know." Ollie said.
"Are you okay?" Sol asked. "Does it hurt? Will it kill you?"
"I'm fine." Ollie replied. "It only affects my behavior."
"Will it kill you?" Sol asked. "Do you know what it is?"
"I don't know, Sol." Ollie replied. "I don't know if it will kill me, and I don't know what it is."
"You do know." Sol said.
"No I don't."
"Yes you do."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes, Ollie. You do know, I can tell when you are lying."
"Yes I do know." Ollie cried. "It was caused by the fall. When I fell off the cliff I was unconscious, I obviously had hit my head. I have brain damage, and it's causing me to act different."
"Is that why you ran into this tree?" Sol asked. "I startled you and you didn't fight, you ran."
"That was because of my depression." Ollie replied.
"Depression?" Sol asked.
"You left me, I had no one." Ollie replied. "I let my guard down, and I was an emotional mess. I still am an emotional mess."
Sol put a paw on Ollie's paw. "Why don't we go back home. We need to get out of this rain."
They walked back home together, when they got there, it had been overrun by men. They welcomed Sol, but not Ollie. She was left in the rain. They grabbed Sol, they petted her, and gave her food and water, and shelter from the rain. Ollie had nothing, she was without attention, food and water, and shelter. They knew her, they knew that she was capable of killing them, so they kept her away from them. Every time she got close to them, they got their guns out. Ollie was now a coward, she had been harmed by men once before, she didn't want to be harmed again. Sol was not enjoying the pets and attention. She wanted to be with Ollie, and help her find shelter and much needed love. Ollie was clearly misunderstood, she was fine while at the vet, and while she was at the shelter. They only thought she was dangerous because of her past, or at least, that's what Sol saw. Sol saw a misunderstood dog, who just needed love and attention. Sol thought the humans should leave Ollie alone, let her live the life she wants to live. Maybe if they left her alone, they wouldn't die, they would lose so many of their kind. No one cared about Ollie, that's why she was so depressed when Sol left her, Sol was the only one who cared. Ollie yelped and howled as thunder roared above them. Sol was less frightened by loud noises than Ollie was. Sol tried to get away from the men, but they wouldn't let go. Sol watched as Ollie tried to hide from the rain and thunder, she was saddened by the sight, and felt the need to go comfort her. Sol was much younger than Ollie, but she did what she could to help. Sol got away from the men, and went over to Ollie. She brushed up against her side, and sat with her.
"You haven't been forgotten." Sol said.
"They don't seem as scared of me as they use to." Ollie said. "What has happened?"
