Carys/ Mia's POV
A warm tingle flows through my hands as they twist and weave around a small pool of water. A soft blue light glimmers out of my wings, illuminating the area. I feel my lungs stretch as they consume more air and my heart flutters at the tease of my magic. The water begins to patter slightly and shift around with my movement. Even my tongue is tickled with a sudden sweet taste. Araquiel has been desperate to teach me a new trick. She claims, of course, it's just for leisure but we both know this spell can be used as a weapon. Fortunately, this spell uses mainly life magic: my speciality. There aren't many weaponised spells linked to this particular area; most of the spells are variations of healing spells. However, there are a few spells which can be particularly nasty if that's what you want.
"That's it, Carys." Araquiel encourages with a slight clap. I roll my eyes at her inadvertent patronisation. I watch as a fish swims into the, now slightly glowing, water. I focus all of my energy on the creature, picturing what I want to happen. A huge wave of energy  crashes over me and I attempt to guide that energy into the pool.
Suddenly, the head of the fish grows, its body twists and contorts. It's fins grow sharp edges and a set of razors replace its tiny teeth. I gasp at my success. I've successfully managed to mutate an animal into something else, the only question: is it dangerous? I throw a raw pork chop into the water and within seconds the meat is revenged and attacked. Only bones remain. Araquiel steps forward with a net and scoops the creature up,
"Please tell me your going to hide it in Duncan's bed!" I beg, giggling at the thought. She just rolls her eyes, "if you don't recall, you were more than happy to use your powers to give him a big hit on the head the other day."
"Hardly; Lewis was desperate to do it, I simply allowed him to do it." She defends, "Besides, Kim said we all need to stick together." She preaches. I groan as I get up to my feet,
"Alright, I suppose that's fair. What are you going to do with it?" I ask, taking a closer look and the flopping catastrophe.
"Well, I was thinking. You should be able to turn the most dangerous of creatures against their keepers. If HatFilms attack with rabid wolves or genetically engineered cows or something of that nature, you should be prepared. So, tomorrow, you'll be turning it back." Araquiel explains, slamming the fish into a bucket and then swiftly putting a lid on it.

We begin to make our way back to Kim's base. She's populated the surrounding buildings with villagers, which we've had to avoid. Like most animals, villagers are able to see Araquiel and they can see my wings. Of course, they then treat us differently: some follow us; others swarm around us; the sick begin to whine. Whatever they do, it's noteworthy and enough the get us exposed. Thus, whenever we practise our magic we have to track a little bit further than we would like. Luckily, there's no one outside to notice us as we return to the building. Araquiel gives me a hug, causing me to flinch slightly. The action resurrects old subdued memories. The smell of sweet perfume like a field of flowers is returned to my nose. The touch of vulnerable skin felt once more. The viscous sight of blood stabs my eye balls with its memory. I flinch back from her.
"Sorr..." before Araquiel can even finish her apology, I've entered the lifts and hit the closest button. I'm shot up into a seemingly empty room. Gadgets and gizmos wiz and tick at me. Flashing lights practically blind me as I venture inside. I call out but no one responds. Taking a chance, and for the first time since I came, I cry. I let devastation and regret take full control over my body. I feel the physical pains of sadness: the pain in my gut like it's been ripped out of me; the chocking feeling as a sob; the burning in my lungs as a gasp for air. The salty tears trickle down my face and land in a small puddle forming beneath me. I recall old memories and feel my heart rip apart as how, what could have been a fairy tail, ending like a nightmare.
An ear ripping ding comes from behind me and I flip myself around. Stood behind me, holding a crimson jar, is Kim. She's dressed differently today; her flux taint is fully displayed and a multitude of weapons adorn her belt. I stare at her silently, desperately trying to think of a way to recover from this. My fingers snatch away the tears as I pretend she hasn't just caught me in a moment of weakness.
"Is everything okay?" She asks. Quick! Think of something! Then I notice a sharp sting on my right shoulders,
"What did you just do?" I question, rubbing the effected area. A wash of guilt appears on Kim's face,
"Well, umm... I study witchery and I kinda needed a taglock in case I needed to cast any spells to protect you." She explains, holding up the jar of my blood, "and, well, I needed a DNA sample for the cloning."
"I beg your pardon?" I gasp,
"Hasn't Martyn told you? Duncan and I were only able to win some of our previous wars because we had a clone army. No doubt, HatFilms will have their own, so I needed to make some clones. Don't worry, I'll only do about a hundred." Kim says, making her way over to a machine,
"No!" I shout, just before she places my blood into a slot. Kim pauses and turns, "I don't think that's a good idea... like you said the other day, I'm the one they'll likely try to sway. If there's more of me, they'll have a greater chance of turning at least one of me." I lie. There's no way that would happen but I can't let Kim clone me,
"I suppose but..." she begins,
"Please, Kim." I beg. She puts the vial away and I'm able to breath a sigh of relief.
"Thank you. I'm going to go check on Toby." I rush out of the room before any questions can be asked. I trust Kim to keep her word so I won't bother casting any spells and wasting my strength. I can't let Kim, or anyone, clone me. Angel clones are not as powerful but their wings are totally visible and their magic malfunctions causing spells to be cast randomly. Angel DNA just doesn't work in machines meant for humans, apparently, we have too many chromosomes. Now I really wish I had studies angel biology in school!
I enter Toby's room, he's been improving rapidly the last few days, along with my help. Until he's fully healed, Kim's put him in his own room. I also have my own room so that I don't have to share with the boys who can be, according to Kim 'a little creepy'. I would be sharing with Kim but I was offered my own room, so I took it. Toby's sat upright in his bed reading a book and Martyn is stood by the window staring out of it.
I approach the blond, slowly. His familiar smile is no longer there and his deep blue pools for eyes have lost there sparkle. His arms are folded and he is hunched over slightly; something's wrong.
"Martyn?" I ask, placing a hand on his bare arm. He glances over and an artificial smile is planted on his face.
"Hey, Mia! Guess what? Toby's doing a lot better." He smiles. Toby, who has yet to notice me, looks up. Once he spots me, his shoulders raise and his cheeks turn red.
"That's great." I smile,
"It's amazing!" Martyn cheers, lifting me up into the air, my arms gripping onto his muscles. He dances around slightly, still holding me up.
"Martyn..." I call, "Martyn!" He places me down, still falsifying a smile. "What's going on?" I question, folding my arms,
"Nothings up." He dismisses, "except that Toby's doing so great!"
"Stop deflecting." I demand. Martyn remains silent. It must be something and if it's an issue I need to know. So, I do the one thing I don't like doing to Martyn. I lock eyes with him, take a deep breath and concentrate. I feel the slight tingle throughout my body and focus on one phrase: 'I have to tell her.' I concentrate my energy onto it, Martyn's pupils dilate and his expression changes. I drop my stare and stop the spell,
"It's HatFilms." He begins; it worked. " they've started making advances, claiming lots of land and setting traps. It seems like they are making their way over to our base...and there's still some weapons there. Lewis and Kim have spoken and decided that we need to make a counter strike: kill them, or their minions; retrieve our weapons; drive them away." Martyn explains. I gulp at the news.
"Oh..." I mutter,
"Don't worry, I told them I want you to stay." Martyn reassures,
"With you?" I ask softly,
"No. I'll have to go." He denies, "but I'll be super safe.
"I'm not letting you go alone. We are in this together Martyn and I am going to protect you." I state, partially telling the truth,
"But Mia, look... you can barely fight a zombie, you certainly won't be able to defend yourself against HatFilms. They are evil people who won't go easy on you. If I let you go, I'll be sentencing you to death." Martyn wraps his arms around me, " I promise you can fight soon. I just need to train you a little more."
"I'm going for a walk." I grunt, leaving Martyn behind me. There's no way I can make Martyn change his mind, even with magic. But there is someone who will want me fighting, even if it means risking my own life. If I leave Martyn, he'll probably die, I just need to have a line of sight on him and I can keep him safe. I enter the lift and hit the button to take me to the appropriate floor. If I can just make him adamant to talk me to battle, Lewis won't be able to refuse. I can't help but smile that our previous altercations will result so positively for me. The doors open and I spy a sleeping Duncan: Just what I need.
